Sounds like Apple is a PREDATOR along with being slave owners. Wounder how much this cost them to get a favorable ruling ?? At $500 plus a share. A couple of hunderd shares should have done the trick.
A little grease applied to the wheels of justice... Do you think Apple would rather pay $2B to these idiots or a whole lot less into the "Chinese justice system" to get their way? Duh...
I say dump China and do all the manufacturing in the U.S. Yes, I know why they are manufactured there, but we've also found that they tend to use toxic chemicals in their products (like what was found in children's toys, etc.). Bring the manufacturing to the U.S. and create a LOT more jobs and tax those corporate hogs that outsource their production in other countries. We don't need to be showing our future economic rivals how our goods are made. And, not to sound racist, but do you know how many recruiters have contacted me that were NOT American? As a matter of fact, I think they call from another country, but have local numbers. Way too many, and they don't even pay attention to the requirements posted (i.e. No Travel, No Relocation). It drives me nuts. They're also pushy. When I say no, it means no!
Got off track....the U.S. businesses need to just bite the bullet and spend more $$ having the products made in this country. No more China or India for crying out loud.
Greed and Gluttony are two difficult foes to conquer . But as the pendulum to far one way it also swings back the other way. Sooner or later corporation's will wake up to the fact that they get more bang for the buck making their products here in the U.S.. Just hope it is sooner !!
You can also look at it this way, China is getting a taste of their own medicine. How many times have you seen a product that has been made my a Chinese manufacturer with only the name changed and they claim it's their right to make and sell that item. All Apple may have done is use a name. Their ipad was more of a non portable, single unit pc.
Does the "i" in Apple products stand for "Me, Steve?" Seems so--very egotistical. "I can push you around, because I am Steve Jobs. I make 'i' products. Don't mess with me or I will kick your a$$." Good way to do business. Apple is an intimidator and predator as someone pinted out. The fine print might reveal some truth on both sides. Proview might have signed an agreement with Apple's proxy representative. The proxy might not have made it 100% clear that Apple wanted 100% rights to the name "IPAD." There are cultural differences that must be considered. Apple needs to stop throwing its weight around like a big bully.
I note the comments about bringing manufacturing 'back to the USA.' Sadly I can't seem to find any commitment in quid pro quo to the USA promising in return to stop exporting or trying to do business or gain influence in China. After all you can't expect to have it all your own way - or is that just me being an innocent abroad. Especially welcome would be if you could persuade your government and arms manufacturers to stop flogging arms to so many brutish regimes around the world. I only pray that Apple remain committed to providing geeks with their toys and refrain from venturing into research and development of itanks or imissiles.
Sadly Apple like so many of our American cousins still cling to the falacy that there is no 'u' in colour so I am not holding my breath.
For those who don't watch "Nightline" on ABC or missed the last couple nights, they were granted the first access ever to film inside Foxconn who manufactures for Apple and other tech companies in China. After watching those segments it is clear why China was chosen to assemble those products, instead of the U.S. or another developed economy, and why they will not be moved to the U.S.
For a China bankrupt company with no manufacturing facilities to sue for Billions after failing is stupid and can not win.............Unless the China goverment backs them!

Do you think that Proview would have won its case (in its home city) without bribes? (Think for a second before you answer)

I hope that all American companies that manufacture in RED CHINA get it packed up their $@#. That is what they get for their greed
Which is "chinese justice" speak for "we're still negotiating the bribe."
