Its not so much the big cities that matter ... its the towns that aren't near big cities that are having the problems ... but folks are throwing assets at big cities because they are more visible.
Real people live in those towns that aren't anywhere near a big city and they own houses and shop at local stores and pay taxes in little towns ... a big city is a lot easier to heal than a small town ... lets pay more attention to small towns and remote areas and let big cities fend for themselves!
Small towns and remote areas usually have their citizens commuting to a larger town for a job - and that is their choice. Their choice not to move and leave their families, way of life, and ethnic preferences - is what it is.
It would be difficult to move headquarters of a large multinational corporation to a remote area. Besides being kind of boring for people used to a more active lifestyle, anyone who tries to say that small towns - where people are often related to one another in some degree - are welcoming to outsiders, would be kidding themselves.
It's like the last small town we lived in, where everyone was very nice, but only newcomers hung out together because the "townies" families lived there for over a hundred years - and if you weren't catholic, well, just forget about fitting in. And, another small town we lived in, thankfully briefly, where the private swimming pool was not open to persons of color - nor Jews!! (2001, not 1951)
Perhaps Barrack Hussein and his mobs next vacation (which I'm sure will be soon) should be to one of the top 3 of 11 Texas towns that know how to create jobs.
Or, maybe Barrack should just talk to, his soon to be successor in 2012, Gov. Rick Perry.
LOL markmich! From your words to God's ears. I'll even take Mickey Mouse over the current president. Anyone but Obama. That incompetent needs to go. We can't afford another 4 years of liberal neo-Marxist Keynesian regression. And here's to winning more seats in the House and Senate next year too. Meat tweeter Weiner's seat went to a Republican due in large part to Democrat Jews, so anything is possible now.
In any event and back on topic, states like the Dakotas and Montana are even paying people to move there with incentives. Employers in those states can't even fill jobs. If I lose mine - a very well paying one - I'd seriously consider moving to one of those states for employment. I'm not a liberal and don't need the government to survive, thank you.
I have seen the socialist agenda for America, and I don't like it. The regulations are geared to change behavior of people. They want to regulate, what you eat (Fruits, Fish, Chicken and Vegetables), what you drive (500 CC cars - Already Out there), where you live, (Concentrated is communities where you can communte in Bicycle to/from work), and who lives or dies with Healthcare, The big sign on this is when you see them thinking about implementing a VAT tax and additional tax on Automobiles (100-200%).
Unless we wake up and fire all these A**Holes we are screwed. go to Scandinavia or Northern Europe and you will see what I mean.
Uhm, no kevlaw, I'm just me. I know you liberals have a hard time understanding that not everyone who disagrees with your wretched liberal policies is a Rushbot or a Beckbot. And it IS safe to say that liberal Keynesian economic policies have FAILED to produce results now for nearly THREE YEARS RUNNING. The neo-Marxist reference is validated by liberals wanting higher and even more progressive income taxes on the successful and job creators.
You may now return to name calling and other snide comments like a typical liberal.
10tacle- I live in Montana- and I don't believe there are any paid incentives to move here. Oil is big in the eastern part of the state as well as coal. If Obama just stays clear of it- we'll be okay with that and ag exports. Firefighters are making out like bandits right now in the west with all the fires- it's smokey right now!
As far as N Dakota- they are in the best position of any state in the nation right now- it is the new oil boom and the next silicon valley! People are moving there DESPITE the crappy weather! ND has become a mecca of sorts for the digital age. Whoda' Thunk?
S Dakota is in a different position- not much going on there and the incentive thing I have seen.
For my money- Romney's the guy- the ONLY (including Obama) one with a real plan. I'm not sold on Perry's foreign policies yet (not sure he is yet either). If he comes up with something- it's worth a look. But you're right- ANYONE but Obama!!
Geek - there was an article here not long ago about ND offering free land. SD is struggling to find jobs (I know this from a telecom company that upgrades cell towers). Regarding MT, I was referring to incentives for companies to move there through the Big Sky Economic Development Trust Relocation Grant.
Meat tweeter Weiner's seat went to a Republican due in large part to Democrat Jews, so anything is possible now.
And pecs-flex Lee's seat went to a Democrat due in lg part to Republican Catholics at the other end of the state, so NY broke even w/ the dueling *sex scandals*. Other than Weiner was flirting w/ women while Lee was trolling for *chicks w/ dicks*, no difference.
Basic Politics 101, misbehave enough to resign & the opposing party'll get your seat. Do you even have a pt, other than a talking one?
There's no GOP advantage in that. They managed to cancel that out earlier w/ Lee's ladyboy fetish.
I'm not a liberal and don't need the government to survive, thank you.
Good 4 you. But those much less fortunate than you do need survival assistance. So we can assert confidently that you donate big to all those churches & charities that are *supposed to* replace govt programs for the poor?
it IS safe to say that liberal Keynesian economic policies have FAILED to produce results now for nearly THREE YEARS RUNNING.
What's the excuse for the failed results of 8 yrs of Junior that are now being mopped up? You can't squawk until the Democrats have had 8 yrs to superglue Georgie's damage. Until there's Democratic parity to that mess, you're comparing apples & oranges.

Yep, NY broke even. But what you won't be hearing is that Weiner Tweeter's seat was lost because of a backlash against Obama's failed policies, not sex. And I suppose this week's Nevada special election going to a Republican means nothing to you Democrat liberals either, right?
But those much less fortunate than you do need survival assistance. So we can assert confidently that you donate big to all those churches & charities that are *supposed to* replace govt programs for the poor?
Working your butt of is NOT being "fortunate." It's reaping the rewards of said hard work. And my religious affiliation let alone my personal financial ties to them is none of your business, liberal.

Well that's standard Democrat liberal fanfare. Go back and look at the data on employment/unemployment, job growth, and percentage of GDP spending on socialist policies under Dubya. You will see a remarkable slide after DEMOCRATS took over BOTH chambers of Congress in the 2006 mid-term elections. Can you say lame duck session with the Pelosicrats running things? And here's another point to ponder: at this point in Reagan's tenure after the Carter disaster, the economy was WELL on the road to recovery and growth. Not so with your guy. But we know what you liberals have up your sleeve: you can have ANOTHER four years, and will STILL fail. What you people will say is that W screwed the nation up so much it would never have recovered. Sorry pal, you people have FAILED America in THREE YEARS.
This is all, of course, irrelevant since 9/11 happened which crippled the economic foundation of this nation as did the financial meltdown. And if you want to see who to blame for that meltdown, you can start by reading this MSN link:
just a couple sites. Google search Jobs in North Dakota in both Oil & Compter Tech. I'm telling you- it's starting to boom. Plus they have lots of visitors each years.
Not long before it will take off.
They did flounder for MANY years- but that's changing. It's becoming a destination place.
And if you want to see who to blame for that meltdown, you can start by reading this MSN link:
Kindly note that your guy Clinton is listed higher up on the blame game that Bush.
Kindly note Phil Gramm at #2, Alan Greenspan at #3, Chris Cox at #4, who rightly pointed the finger at staff reduction, initiated by, guess who? GW Bush.
BTW, yes Clinton is higher in the list - by one. Poor argument.
What I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the fact that the changes that were in part responsible for this were lobbied for by realtors, bankers and the construction industry, because they wanted more customers. It's hard to continually show year after year profits with the same number of customers. If you've already given loans to all those who qualify, where do you go to get more of them to improve your numbers? If you guessed unqualified buyers, you win today's prize for being able to grasp the obvious.
Oh, and those CEOs who pushed for this regulation/deregulation? They stole more of your money, legally.
Also, for the record, The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which was used in the article in Time as Clinton's mistake? Well, he had no choice but to sign it. It had near unanimous support in the senate. It was not veto-able. Clinton had no choice but to sign it. Blaming him for this is misguided, at best.
San Antonio tops the list of where employers are looking for people
Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, a Texas City that tops the list and a couple more right at the top. I wonder if it has anything to do with "right to work" and less government regulations?
"Oh, certainly not. Be assured these are worthless jobs made possible by some moron in Austin and the article is all lies, anyway" ... as said by the typical frustrated liberal living in Obamaville, pissed to the max that Perry is actually gaining traction. It would be great for Perry to win in Nov 2012 just to watch all the libs run screaming into the night as they realize their masive, oppressive, inescapeable big government plans they were so close to go down the drain.
Well, well, well. How interesting and ironic that THREE of the top 11 cities are in Texas. Happanstance?? I think not. Texas is a business friendly state and that is proving to serve her residents well. Additionally, San Antonio and El Paso in the past have not been thought of as strong business centers per se, but this new survey is showing that ALL areas of Texas, not just Hou, Dal and Austin, are blowin and goin. THANK YOU GOVERNOR PERRY.
San Antonio is, and has been, a BIG gov't jobs town (military). People would not chafe about Perry if he had not been such a hypocrite about "bad gov't".... "bad" unless it helps him out.
That said, I wish we could move back to San Antonio, loved it. Have to go where the jobs are tho', and had to go due to a transfer.
Good grief - I couldn't wait to get out of Texas and those low paying worthless jobs. BTW - Perry's still getting credit for those Country Wide Mortgage jobs - yeeee haw... and they don't even exist anymore...
Problem 1 with Texas, Take out the government spending and you take out a good portion of the economy. Problem 2- The same guy preaching about stimulus used stimulus to balance the budget for a bit so the number is skewed. Problem 3- The same person preaching about balancing the budget is now running a deficit because the state no longer has stimulus funds skewing the number even further. Eventually the piper will come calling. People need to start using that god given gift called common sense and look at more than what they want to hear. Texas also has the highest percent of uninsured and more minimum wage jobs than any other state. See the connection there? low paying jobs=no health coverage but the President is wrong for trying to fix that problem for everyone.
San Antonio's great showing has nothing to do with Rick Perry and EVERYTHING to do with the federal government. Primarily defense jobs and healthcare. If Perry has his way, San Antonio will suffer the most along with a lot of other cities when he cuts government spending like he promises. Not a smart man.
Moshi you are so correct! The GOP would love the idea of a Dumb population, so that we cant think for ourselves. The folks to the South of us are not even bothering coming over the boarder for jobs, as they were a few years ago. Pretty soon we will be illegal aliens looking for work in Mexico, if this issue is not resolved.
San Antonio is, and has been, a BIG gov't jobs town (military). People would not chafe about Perry if he had not been such a hypocrite about "bad gov't".... "bad" unless it helps him out.
Hmmmmm,
You DO realize that the military is one of the FEW Constitutionally mandated entities our Federal governement is responsible for.
The "bad gov't" is all the government mandated entitlement, social programs and bureaucracy thats is sucking the life out of our economy.
I wonder if it has anything to do with "right to work" and less government regulations?
You do know that *right to work* means you get fired w/o warning & they don't even have to give you a reason for it....right?
And how is it *less govt regulations* when you are no longer the *Independent Republic of Texas* (incidentally, try perusing your state constitution & pay attn to the part where it says if Texas secedes, y'all get invaded) & are subject to following the same federal laws, regs, & rules as the other 49 states?
Esp considering the fed govt is the lgst employer in the state of Texas. Go ahead, secede. All those Texas fed military installations will make the Alamo look like a pleasant church social.
It would be great for Perry to win in Nov 2012 just to watch all the libs run screaming into the night as they realize their masive, oppressive, inescapeable big government plans they were so close to go down the drain.
You do know that Perry ordered all the little girls in Texas to have the Gardasil injection....right?
And that Perry demanded all women seeking an abortion, even for rape, incest, horrific fetal defect, or impending maternal death, be treated to govt delays in the form of a narrated sonogram....right?
And gee, none of that stuff was in the US Constitution, so it was struck down! How 'bout that?
Perry's idea of govt is to grease his mullet in place by sticking his head up every uterus in Texas. That's somehow magically not *masive [sic], oppressive, inescapable big govt plans*?
Or is it OK b/c it's just oppressing females? B/c the state of Texas doesn't seem to have an issue w/ incl Viagra scrips on Medicaid.
How ironic that Perry wants all men, regardless of whether they can afford to *breed em & feed em* or not, to get a hard-on, yet is against abortion from the results of that priapic condition. Or any assistance for the child that *protected fetus* eventually turns into.
Waaaaah Perry is making jobs so we need to complain about what type of jobs he's creating. Waaaaaaah.
Perry'll just further meddle in big govt by fiddling w/ child labor laws so that cherished fetus can get a damn job & support itself b4 it's out of diapers. At one of those McJobs Perry's sooooo proud of.
Yes, his libertarian stance (you do know not wanting big govt isn't a Republican ideal....right?) brings a tear to my eye.
Not true Gharms. The type of jobs directly reflects where this nation is heading. Unskilled jobs that usually pay minimum wage reflect directly on the education level of the nation. The more lower paying jobs that are created means the median income of America is falling which affects everyone from the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor because the general population will be poorer once recovery does happen. The standard of living will have dropped while prices remain higher putting the entire population that much closer to poverty. Everyone complains about organized labor but nobody complains about the Chamber of Commerce which is run by businesses and sets industry standards. It's okay for business to organize against the workers and consumers to maximize their profits, but it's not okay of the consumer or labor does the same thing back. You all forget our labor is purchased from us by business at a rate of which we agree to sell it. It is our product that we set the price for just like any other business.
Oh, we totally agree there Moshi, it's just the liberals using this as an excuse to attack a man that actually helped create an environment that was hospitable for job growth is funny. All, off course, while defending their Messiah who supposedly has had "laser focus" on creating jobs, yet has failed to do so in the three years in office. It's their way of talking down actual results by claiming the results weren't what everyone wants, but failing to see that something > nothing.
Just think how many more jobs there would be everywhere, including Texas if Obama was not in the White House? This administration issues hundreds of pages of regulations every week. Don't go by what Obama says. Pay attention to what his administration does. Not to mention all the anti-business rhetoric.
I seriously don't understand the logic behind the deregulation argument. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't a lack of regulation lead to the housing bubble collapse which in turn led to 9% unemployment? So how would deregulating industries create more jobs when it's already proven to lose so many? Regulations are there to protect the common people from companies like Enron, worldcom, etc who take advantage of the system and quite literally rob people of their money. I can't believe we're even having this discussion. Common sense should prevail.
"De-regulate, de-regulate". It's the Republican/TP mantra just like "No tax hikes for the rich, no tax hikes for the rich". This is exactly the kind of B.S. that created this mess we're in. The rich just want to make sure they get every dime from us middle class as quick as they can. They can't stand it unless they are on top and everyone else is poor. Nothing but filthy greed.
Obama??? There is 2.5 trillion in the private sector, because the employees of today work twice as hard and longer hours. All the Big Shots made money during the collapse of the housing sector, and TARP. They made money and now that all the companies have become lean, why should they hire? The only wrong with Obama is that he doesn't point out these issues to the PEOPLE. When he goes to the Ohio and Kentucky State Line next week and shows the cracks on those bridges, you will see where the jobs are really needed. The Republican Party is so out of touch with main stream America, that they will loose in 2012. If you agree with the Tea Party, then you disagree with the American Dream. This isn't trickle down economics, its slavery. That's why you guys hate Obama, bottom line hes black. BTW I have friends that are black!!! lol Just in case you try that defence! OH!!! AS JB would say with a tear jerk!!! We don't need regulations!!! No, lets just get rid of the EPA, USDA, FCC, and any other regulatory agency that protects Americans, unless you or your family are wronged, by big business.
Those regulations stopped banks from charging hidden fees without disclosure, ensure our gas supply has no more than 10% ethanol giving us all a higher quality product, made it mandatory that drug manufactures disclose all side effects instead of only the ones that occurred in 5% or more of the patients during trials, and the list goes on and on. Don't hand me this regulation garbage killing business. Look at how much the stock market has grown since Obama took office. The S&P 500 has gone up by over 40%. Of the 500 companies that make up the S&P, average CEO pay increase by 27% in 2010. You would think with all the over regulation, high taxes, economic uncertainty, layoffs, and lack of consumer spending and confidence killing businesses with all the doom and gloom, they still found a way to pay the fat cats more instead of creating jobs. 7 straight quarters of record profits but where are the jobs? You would think with so many unemployed, too many regulations, and job crushing taxes, these profits shouldn't be possible. They could afford to pay more to the CEOs, Corporate execs, and lobbyists but they can afford to hire workers. I believe in numbers and facts, not what Republicans tell to believe. Please Republicans, what specific regulations do you want repealed so we can have an open discussion about it? Please don't say Obamacare either because the economy was screwed up long before it was signed into law. When Business honors the job creating tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, we can talk more about lowering taxes, until then, I need to see results from my part of the 858 billion dollar investment we made as tax payers.
I'm going to throw my two-cents in. Regulations certainly have their place, but they are the driving force in jobs being shipped overseas. To be specific, the EPA has regulated us to the point that we cannot afford to build and manufacture anything in this country. People think that we ship jobs overseas because of cheap labor, but they are wrong. It's because expensive regulation and red-tape make it cost beneficial to build that factory in China. Oh and by the way, the housing crisis was created by the government forcing banks to give loans to people who could not afford them (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac). It had very little to do with greed. In fact the housing crisis is an example of why I am a republican. When the govt sticks its nose into the private sector, catastophe soon follows. The crisis would have never happened if the government would have stayed out of it. Keep the gov't out of the free market (as much as possible).
Tony I agree with. The housing & finance problems began with the Libs forcing home financing (Acorn, etc.) for people who didn't even have jobs leading to the housing bubble collapse. Add the annointed ones new regulations custom made for the union only club and thats where we are now.
Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't a lack of regulation lead to the housing bubble collapse which in turn led to 9% unemployment? So how would deregulating industries create more jobs when it's already proven to lose so many? Regulations are there to protect the common people from companies like Enron, worldcom, etc
@Trance: You are correct on the lack of regulation and the mortgage collapse. None other than Republicans led by Bush tried to increase regulations on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. None other than Democrats led by Barney Frank said NO to said increased regulations with a well known quote: "These two entities - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - are not in any financial difficulty." No, you liberals own the mortgage crisis with your mindless feel good "fair housing" legislation.
And regarding regulations to protect us from the Enron scams and whatnot, where's the regulation to protect us from the incompetence of government? The news this week is that four BIG GREEN energy companies are in trouble. These companies took millions of so-called stimulus money in Obama's 2009 stimulus bill. The FBI even raided one of them. The media of course is mostly silent about it because it makes liberal Democrat policies look like failures (which for the most part they always are, dating back to LBJ's Great Society experiment).
The rich just want to make sure they get every dime from us middle class as quick as they can. They can't stand it unless they are on top and everyone else is poor. Nothing but filthy greed.
@nwnative: The rich - specifically the top 10% of income earners who make more than $115k/year - pay 70% of all income taxes the IRS takes in by US household filers. The top 25%, those who earn more than $70k, pay a whopping 88%. The bottom 50% - those who earn less than $33k/year - pay ZERO after deductions and tax breaks like the EIC. The middle 25% of income earners - those who earn more than $33k but less than $70k - pay the remaining 12%.
So you tell me sport - how can the rich steal from those who don't have much to begin with? I'm no Paul Krugman economist or anything (man what an idiot), but I'd like to know the economic model of how the RICH steal from the WORKING class and POOR.
Here is what is true. Regulations are around to help consumers; you and I. Without regulations in place companies can get by with anything to make a dollar. Seriously. Banks and credit card companies could price gauge you and force you into debt with high interest rates. Other companies may choose to misrepresent their products or use tactics that would mislead consumers in order to trick them into purchasing their products. Who is going to stop them if not a governing body? Anything would go. It would quickly turn into the wild west.
If you're still doubting me, ask yourself this question; why do we even have laws to begin with? May it have anything to do with protection of it's citizens? Look at some lawless countries like Somalia and tell me what you see. I guarantee you that they don't have many regulations for their businesses either, but would you want to live there?
Ultimately we are talking about freedom, and what it means to us. You have to admit that none of us are truly free. I am not free to go and take someones life just because I might feel like it. Nor am I free to steal from someone else. We as human beings should only be free to do what we want, so long as it doesn't interfere with another persons rights. In other words, we are not free to take anything we want, whenever we want. We make an agreement to work for a certain amount of time for a certain amount of money; we don't simply just take money from someone. My point is this; absolute freedom is dangerous and reckless and therefore we absolutely need laws and regulations in place to protect mankind as a whole.
It is true that without regulations, companies could hire more people because the means by which they can make a dollar will increase. So yes, you would see a hiring increase, but these would not be meaningful jobs and inevitably it would just hurt us in the long run.
My solution to the jobs crisis would be this; offer temporary tax breaks for mid and small sized businesses, encourage entrepreneurship (the more competition, the better), regulate all colleges and eliminate federal funding towards degrees that offer little or no chance of obtaining a job, improve upon education system (a huge undertaking at this point), encourage the creation of meaningful jobs (think green!).
Really, there will be no quick fixes. Obama is doing patchwork for all the damage that has already been done.
Red States are far out producing Blue States in job growth and creation.
Could that be due to the fact that they get the most in fed govt aid? B/c the *red states* lead the pack as far as citizens living below poverty level. And in trailers. Don't let tough terms like *per capita* get you down; just find the ranking column.
Or maybe it's b/c Texas is eagerly raking in fistfuls of that disparaged *stimulus* Perry insists he never touched? But hey, don't take my word for it, the state of Texas has its own site all about it!
But the Texas Legislature appropriated $14.4 billion of the stimulus money for fiscal 2009, 2010 and 2011. Five state agencies account for 93% of those appropriations: Texas Education Agency, Health and Human Services Commission, Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, and the Texas Workforce Commission.
The federal government is also sending money directly to local governments and other institutions, such a military bases, in Texas.
You never hear Perry mentioning those salient facts when he looks like a deer in the headlights in front of cameras, do you? Or that he's made like, what, 7 requests for *federal disaster aid* just in 2011 alone? Good grief, y'all get the flu down there & Perry considers it a disaster worthy of getting fed funding. Texas has historically sucked the most disaster aid of any state.
But nahhh....Perry don't believe in none of that big govt nonsense.
The single largest employer in San Antonio is that socialistic federal government. Following that is USAA which sells insurance to people who work for that socialistic federal government. I wonder how San Antonio would be doing if we cut government spending as Rick Perry seems to think we should do. Then the entire country could sink to the level of Texas, last in the nation and beaten by Mississippi.
If Mississippi beats Texas, that is sad indeed. The back areas from San Antonio to the sea do have some real poverty going on, that I saw. Mississippi just seemed like one big third world nation from one side to the other- except the occasional mansion - I'll never go back there.
If hiring does start to take place whose going to get those jobs? Here in ms. every construction site there are very few americans, virtually no locals. So my question is still.. who will get the jobs?
So who performs the minimum wage jobs in San Antonio? Do they give those to illegals or bring in the working poor and middle class from all over the rest of the state to do those jobs?
Don't be stupid. Many who have insurance are civilians who do not work for USAA nor are they in the Military. Not all USAA members work for the government. My daughter and her husband is a good example. He is a prinicpal and she is a house wife.
Well said American Citizen! You are a true blue right wing idiot, only caring about yourself. You don't give two craps about the unemployed. Can you at least send them a few cases of cake mix so they can take your party's advice, ya loser!!!!
Well, PeoriaGuy, your ignorant, insulting rant has just identified you as....well, a common LIBERAL! And, I suspect that American Citizen is not the loser here. Do you talk to people like that face to face, or just hiding behind your computer.
There is nothing wrong with socialism, we only think it's so horrible because us Americans are taught to think that socialism/communism is wrong.
Socialism for example are things like welfare, fema, food stamps, social security, hud, medicare/medicaid/medi-cal, cash for keys, cash for cars, wic and a whole bunch of other programs.
Now lets say your house gets flooded after winter, who are you going to call when you need the help? Fema, of course.
Now don't tell me that socialism does not do good for you.
I agree with you 100%. My state has continually lied about their unemployment numbers since everything fell apart. I've been out of work for almost 4 years and trying to get hired around here is next to impossible, especially if you're over 35 years of age. My state's government continually brags about how good things are here but every time I show up at a hiring, 400 to 900 also show up. Makes one wonder it does.
No, it doesn't look for realistic where I live at all. If a full quarter of US adults were really unemployed throughout the nation, we wouldn't have a recession, it would indeed be the Great Depression par dieu! I know it sounds good to over inflate everything to prove a point, but in this case it is rediculous and helps no one!
And to the "33-41%" person. Where do you live? Detroit or somewhere in Ohio?
No, it doesn't look for realistic where I live at all. If a full quarter of US adults were really unemployed throughout the nation, we wouldn't have a recession, it would indeed be the Great Depression par dieu!
Um, "dieu" is French for "god"....so WTH are you trying to say here w/ "par dieu"?
And the *real numbers* are always at least double what the *official numbers* are, b/c the official ones don't take into acct ppl who have exhausted UIB but have gotten old enough while unemployed to take early retirement; gone on public assistance; have a working spouse, partner, parent, or child to support them; or managed to get disability to live on rather than a job.
Even 18.2% is too close to 25% for comfort & there's always a margin of error where it could be a bit less, but it could also be a bit more, & right now, I'd lean toward more. New England & the Rust Belt of the Northeast has never fully recovered from the Reagan yrs & the collapse of Big Steel & related industries. There are places in the US that are always teetering on the edge w/ high poverty & unemployment, like WV.
And 9.1% is merely a nat'l avg. When you take an avg, some #s are lower, some #s are higher, 3rd gr Math skills. In lg, densely populated states, it's a lot higher than 9.1% b/c there's more ppl to count.
I know it sounds good to over inflate everything to prove a point, but in this case it is rediculous and helps no one!
There is no E in ridiculous, & it is not ridiculous. Stick your head in the sand all you please; it doesn't change the fact that some states have unemployment as high as 13% on the *official* tally. Double that & you have passed 25%.
Anyone who still thinks this is *just a recession* & not a depression needs to brush up on both history & economics. This *recession* has been hanging on for a decade now. It's a depression. The media just doesn't like to say so b/c it might induce the same sort of panic it did in 1929.
And to the "33-41%" person. Where do you live? Detroit or somewhere in Ohio?
Where do you live that it's so rosy?
I'm betting not in Nevada, California, Michigan, South Carolina, DC, Florida, Rhode Island, North Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, Illinois, Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, Kentucky, New Jersey, Washington, Arizona, or Idaho, all states whose *official* figures exceed the avg of 9.1%.
Ohio actually hit the avg on the nose, so where you get the idea it's so dismal there as compared to the ones cited I'm sure I don't know.
And for all Perry's bombast about his *Texas Miracle*, I wouldn't be jumping for joy over 8.5% there. A thriving economy should have a rate comparable to New Hampshire's 5.3% or lower.
NOW, If this recession, depression we are in, is a conspiracy by the GOP, the Oil Companies, the Corporations and some members of the military to take over and break this country, create a new to their liking? to force people to live in Labor Camps, Labor Camp housing like in Canyon County? Minimum wage, no health and welfare, Corporate Schools, the business and stores as company stores the people have to shop for Rationed programmed forced food, survival goods, and clothing, and China waiting in the stands?
Well they are well on their way.
The people of this United States of America had better wake up, be watchful, in these times
It is very easy for a country to lose its identity.
I heard the other night two businessmen on the free channel, discussing getting rid of all rules and regulation and complete freedom, no Unions, making separation of class, insinuating freedom for capitalist, not for middle and low income, maximizing profits on the backs of cheap labor, like the old plantations and now the field workers, like we have for the import labor from Mexico.
SO BE ALEART, THESE ARE DANGEROUS TIMES.
John West may sound a little extreme, like something out of a futuristic sci-fi film about the Corporate States of America, but you have to look at how far we have come in the last twenty years towards what he describes!!!
There are a lot of people who would not have believed in 1991 that people's rights would be repealed by the right wing state legislatures and corporate whore governors in only nine months time. Give the basturds on the right four years and you won't recognize this country. We have to watch out for them and their Chinese allies. They want to cut America to shreds and make her just like China, so they can control the world even more. His scenario isn't that far from what our future could be. Then I can LOL to your sorry Gharms!
Do you think we should all send the righties in Tex-as$ a congratulatory card for their success? Let's shut down Lackland and reopen a base somewhere else in the country that needs the jobs and boost to their economy. Perry doesn't need no stinkin' government jobs any way, he's got Walmart to rely on to keep his state underfunded, like the fire departments. There willl be a whole lot of building going on around Austin, what with 2000 homes destroyed by fire. Too bad the contractors will hire illegals to do the work, but charge union wage prices!!!!! Enjoy it while you can San Antonio.
Perry just scares the sh!t outta you lefties, don't he? Actually seeing positive results while Obama can't get a god damned thing done, all while blaming everyone else. Looks like there are a few Obots left. Have fun getting your asses handed to you in 2012.
I can see there being more entry level jobs because big business wants to hire cheaply. Many of us out of work now are people in their 40s and up that have many years experience. We don't come cheap so we don't even get looked at. This is the situation I am finding myself in. Plus much of the work I did was for FEMA and other government work which has no spending money. Its funny how that 700+ million that was used to kick start the economy ending up going into the pockets of people that knew the local governments instead of actually helping those of us that needed it most.
I know it's tough to say but I've been there, I got laid off at age 58. Does the phrase "overqualified" come to mind. Get off your high horse, take what work you can find to make a living, unless your just going to sit back, draw unemployment and WHINE. It's easier to find a job, if you have a job. Even the UNIONS are not looking for high paid workers.
I am in mid-50s and though I was laid off intermittantly in 2009 for 20 weeks, I got to keep my union factory job in the end.
However, I told my wife in 2009 that if I lost my job, I would never be going back to work again and just retire. I had a hard time ten years ago getting a job then and couldn't imagine how much age discrimination I would face being even older.
It was partly because of a union contract that I am still working and the company hasn't relocated our jobs, because the company has to continue to give us work (or most of us work) until the end of the current six year contract. We just renewed the contract this year. I feel fortunate. I might add that my employer is at full employment right now on the factory floor in IL.
Mapper, take rpb's advice about not being too proud to change careers, fields or even color of collars. The older you are, the less desirable you are to employers, once you are over 35. I have three degrees and now do blue collar work. Frankly the pay, the benies and the fact I still have a pension makes this the best compensation I ever had, even compared to my hoity-toity white collar jobs (most all with big companies) during the earlier part of my working career.
Maybe it was easier for me to change careers, because I always had the notion that I wasn't too good to do any kind of work. At 19 I spent a summer working on a hog farm in the Midwest. I smelled like the animals I took care of, no matter how many showers I took in a day. I worked in all kinds of weather and temperature extremes. I built fences, herded pigs, fed and cared for them, castrated them and most importantly made money for college (my only goal for working that kind of job, because it was the only work I found that summer). Any way I survived the summer and was a better man for it! You might have to do something like that or something that you used to consider to be below you.
Toddlorensinclair.................first poster...................The big cities don't matter? Because real people don't live there? Are you fricking crazy? Is that where all the pretend people live, in the big cities? And I'll bet you call yourself a Christian, and go to church every Sunday in your small town. Do us all a favor.............stay there.
Are you an idiot? Or do you just want to fight for the sake of fighting. Todd said there are real people in small towns. The inference and obvious intent was to point out that there are real people in smaller towns also and that big cities should not get all of the attention.
he is actually right. Less stimulus dollars could be spent to assist smaller populated areas and the money would go farther. That may not be the solution, but he at least proposing something.
You, on the other hand, only chose to make fun of him and treat him like garbage. 80% of what you typed had nothing to do with his arguement. You went after him personally and seem to have a bone to pick with christians and going to chuch as well. do you know this person to be able to decide what they do and do not do? Probably not
You are a hate filled idiot. Are you a Democrat by chance?
What I am sick of rpb is that the righties really believe they are the only Christians on earth. Just ask one of them. They are idiots! They swallow the right wing garbage like it's the truth. If you fit in that nitch, there is nothing I can say to change your mind. It's already bent and fried from years of propaganda, reinforced by Fox and Rupert's propaganda network and your enlightened minister.
I grew up in and live in a small town too and am surrounded by them, but have lived in several large metro areas during my life. I know both worlds.
During the 80s I used to think I was a Republican, but the Republican Party kept working on changing that during the 1990s until I got really pissed off by their underhandedness in 2000.
No way would I support a terrorist group like the Tea Party that has the same basic goals as Al Qaeda! No way will ever be a corporate whore, doing the dirty work for people like the Koch brothers and numerous other narcistic CEOs and Wall Street bankers and investers. Do you want a secular government and society so bad that you are willing to stab your fellow countrymen in the back? Guess so.
Some day I may have to defend my rights against the creeps on the far right more than what I am today. I have no problem doing that. God bless the middle class.
Right on PeoriaGuy! What get's me riled is the fact that the right blames the current administration for what's happening now. Are they forgetting the tax breaks for the rich (which will trickle down and create lots of jobs....when?) and start of the war (how many billions of $) under George W. and now they want another Texan to rise and shine! Go figure!?
Watchinforhypocrites.........Look in the mirror. No, I'm not an idiot, are you? He said, and I quote "It's not so much the big cities that matter." Don't all cities matter? Not to him, and I guess not to you because you agree with him. And big cities can solve problems (heal) easier he said...........really????? How does he know this??????? And he said "let the big cities fend for themselves." But take care of him and his little town. Oh, yeah, he's a sweet boy, isn't he? And you think I'm fighting for the sake of fighting? How about I just like to fight mean spirited idiots like you and him.
We will continue to see better employment opertunities in our "Right to Work States". In the global economy and under the our political system both parties endorsed, Workforce 2000" back in the 80's. The Federal plan is to reduce Labor Unions down to 4% by 2016. When the politicians point fingers at each other about jobs, just remember, they all endorsed and embraces Workforce 2000 and the outsourcing of our work. Jack Welch, then CEO for GE wrote the model. The rest of the Fortune 500's just followed his lead.
I also liked the story referring to the "Dust Bowl". The Feds endorsed the relocation of work back then too. Today they fluff it up with things like JTPA and WIA making us think we will be retrained for other jobs.
Whizbang-you are such a good little Republitard. How many times in your life have you gotten your hands dirty? Go back to counting the pennies in your piggy bank.
I'm a republican and I have worked at a steel mill,a foundry and a vinyl extrusion plant.I bet I worked harder than you have Peeoriaguy. Oh yeah, btw, the steel mill work was sent to Mexico in 1999 and the foundry shut down in 2000.Gee, I wonder who was in charge then?NAFTA (signed into law by Clinton in 1994)killed the manufacturing in my county and the unions at both places didn't even hold the door open for me on the way out.
I work son..i would work your little pecker into the dirt! 14-16 hours a day 6 days a week! And if the people who work for me whine and cry i find someone else! I am sure you never have or will work like i do! No get going the DHS food stamp line closes soon. " illinois" --so how is the job market there in the liberal mecca?
It doesn't mean a good cahoot what cities are hiring. If you're over 50 you might as well be bagging groceries at Kroger's. So much for years of experience and that overpriced college education ...
yowza, in about 15 or 20 minutes, you will be 50. Believe me. Life comes around real fast and slaps you in the face. And get your facts straight: you have to be about 70 to be an official WalMart greeter. Jeesh!
Marti, you can bag my groceries any time and I won't look down on you for doing that kind of work at your age. I have had my moments when life was a bitch and then I died!
SoSickoftheGop ... think you could ramp up the rage volume a bit, we can't hear you out here in cyberspace. I'm sick of the GOP myself, and the Dems too, for that matter. So let's all get bent out of shape and start personally attacking a poster for comments with which we don't agree. America, land of the free and home of the rage.
Read his comments again Marty. He's the angry one. Don't give money to the cities, that's what he said. And only small town people are real. I don't agree. And because this is the home of the free, I have the right to disagree with him and EVEN PUT IT IN WRITING. And if you don't like it that's too bad. And by the way, you blasted me fot 'attacking' another poster...........and that's exactly what you did to me. But it's okay for you to do it, right? Because, um, why is that exactly??????
End marijuana prohibition! As was the case when racial segregation was the law, it is time for America's legal system to correct itself. Unfortunately, reform voices are muted. Join Us!
I say all of you liberals stay where you are at! We don't want or need you to take oklahoma/texas jobs. You don't Like our politics or our conservitive ways, You can stay in baby killing, homo loving libtardville. Just don't be mad when business comes here and says forget you!
and i assumed that the "tard" in libtardville is in reference to someone stupid, which comes from the word retard. retard was once used to describe a special needs child. so the next time you see a special needs child, please by all means say, hey you @!$%#in retard how you doin? i'm sure it will brighten their day.
you can say whatever you want, I just think that if you knew a special needs kid your view might be different on that word. if you don't care about the feelings of children then go ahead and keep using it. totally up to you. but seriously, next time you see one of those retards please let them know how stupid they are. and please, keep attacking me if it makes you feel better. keep attacking others if it makes you feel better. the most important thing is for you to feel better about yourself.
Yowza1 As a mother of a special needs child, I appreciate you trying to help whizbang realize how hurtful using the term "tard" is when it is being used to be derogatory and hateful. I wish this word would disappear the way the "N" word did among intelligent, civilized people.
it has become a word commonly used.Originated in gamer lingo. Has NOTHING to do with your mentally retarded child so lighten up! And the typical dem response is "oh the poor children blah blah blah" You may be surprised to know in real life he wouldnt give a crud about your kid! See my middle finger...now thats offensive!
Whizbang.........you don't want the liberals to take Oklahoma/Texas jobs? Man, that is so funny. Been in the oil and gas business in Oklahoma/Texas for 30 years. They needed us northern liberals to come down and show them how to get their oil out of the ground. Poor little barefoot Repubs didn't know how to do it. They still don't know. The yankees are still showing them.
One better, Johnnie Apple. As you know most all the states are at least 11% or more in unemployment, but Obama and Wash DC keeps saying 9.1%. There math is worse than the debt they are piling up. Even Nv and old Reid (heard much out of him lately?) just went up to 13.4%. I would like to know where all these 200,000 jobs they are creating every week are, when the news keeps showing all the companies laying off thousands.
In my opinion, I think Obama and all the other people that claim that they know everything should help the economy by cutting their pay check. That would help the whole United States and maybe show how much they really care about the economy. The money that is saved, they should give each American some of that money. With the extra spending of each person it would help the economy. Anyway, I feel that Obama should have to sacrifice since, he claimed he was going to bring this economy out of the mess it is in. Why should we have to pay for failed promises ?
shouldn't someone like arod take a paycut rather than the president? he makes pennies compared to professional athletes. if every professional athlete took a paycut and put that money in the pocket of someone else, wouldn't that help? there's a hell of a lot more professional athletes than there are presidents right? and they make a hell of a lot more right?
Why should someone in their 40s (I just hit 50) get paid more to do the same job? What extra value does the company get for hiring someone who "dont' come cheap" because of this experience if the final work product is the same?
*IF* the epxerience has value to the company, then present it as you market yourself. Have facts and figures that show if the company pays you more than they would pay someone with less experience, that they will get a documented better ROI. People who do this, rarely have problems finding employment.
What they dont tell you is than even though there are jobs in San Antonio,( Take it from a person who lives there), they dont pay crap. And thanks to all these stupid sites telling everybody how great the job market is here, the rush of people moving here have driven the cost of living and housing thru the roof.
Sure you can find a job, if you want to make less than 30k a year. And be ready to live in substandard housing becasue the average cost of even a crappy rental in this city is over 900 per month, if you want a 2 bedroom apartment. Want house, well plan on 1200 and up. Want to buy a home ..then bring better find two mediocre jobs because they cost alot. Not to mention the 300.00 + electic bill for the a/c, higher auto insurance due to high crime and traffic accident ratios, long commutes due to some of the worst traffic in the country, oh and yeah did they mention the crime rate? (Gang problems, home invasions, murder, drugs)
Do yourself a favor and Stay Home. San Antonio is not the Rose in bloom everybody want you to believe.
Jon - I live in SA too and my experience is completely different. I have a great job, make over 3x your "$30k" figure and find the cost of living substantially less than living in the Northeast, where I am originally from. I own a house, and while it is not large, I've NEVER had an electric bill at or near the $300/month range. My electric bill last month, in the hottest month of the year, August, was $120.00. I've lived in many areas of the country and don't find the insurance rates, crime or traffic to be any worse than any other similarly large city. I feel safe here, the social scene is active, and the vast majority of my friends are employed in pretty good jobs. Although the economy slowed down like just about everywhere else, the effect seems to have been less.
Oh, I get it, you are trying to get people to stop moving here! If not, move away and open up a $30k position for someone who wants it.
I've lived in San Antonio all my life and I can attest that it's grown so much the past 20 years. I find it crazy that almost every new person I meet are not native to San Antonio! This city is simply doing well economically and that's why people and business come here. The only downfall is that in my job (architecture) we find that out of state companies come to San Antonio and central Texas trying win projects. This hurts us local firms. But it just goes to show that there is work here - yes public money but those are the clients that pay and on time!
Well the federal government won't be able to pay anyone on time if Perry gets in the WH. There won't be any jobs left in the private or public sector to tax.
Look at Texas and you will see what Perry's vision of America is and it will unfold in only four years. Don't plan on doing anything about it, if you don't like it either. You won't have the rights left to do it. With the Koch brothers behind him and other rich neo-cons, he will rewrite the constitution and/or fail to fund anything he doesn't like.
Adolf Hitler, here we come! Perry the praying (fake) cowboy can be bought over and over, as long as it's more than $5 grand large!
"Neo-Marxist Keynesian regression!" WOW! You must be a Liberty University Or Beck U grad!
Name the town and if you heard what she said is they throw money at big cities
But yes my friend - ABO! (Anyone But Obama).
Oops correction to the above: SD is struggling to find employees to fill jobs...
Good 4 you. But those much less fortunate than you do need survival assistance. So we can assert confidently that you donate big to all those churches & charities that are *supposed to* replace govt programs for the poor?
What's the excuse for the failed results of 8 yrs of Junior that are now being mopped up? You can't squawk until the Democrats have had 8 yrs to superglue Georgie's damage. Until there's Democratic parity to that mess, you're comparing apples & oranges.
Yep, NY broke even. But what you won't be hearing is that Weiner Tweeter's seat was lost because of a backlash against Obama's failed policies, not sex. And I suppose this week's Nevada special election going to a Republican means nothing to you Democrat liberals either, right?
And if you want to see who to blame for that meltdown, you can start by reading this MSN link:
http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/completelist/0,29569,1877351,00.html
Kindly note that your guy Clinton is listed higher up on the blame game that Bush.
10tacle:
just a couple sites. Google search Jobs in North Dakota in both Oil & Compter Tech. I'm telling you- it's starting to boom. Plus they have lots of visitors each years.
Not long before it will take off.
They did flounder for MANY years- but that's changing. It's becoming a destination place.
A seat that was held by a republican going to another republican?
Hardly reason to lift up your skirt so high.
Fool.
Independent Republic of Texas,
You Might end up as a baked biscuit with the wildfires thanks to Perry cutting the firefighting budget by 75%.
Ummm. Largest employer in San Antonio? The government. But Perry wants to get that government out of our lives.
Waaaaah Perry is making jobs so we need to complain about what type of jobs he's creating. Waaaaaaah.
BTW - Perry's still getting credit for those Country Wide Mortgage jobs - yeeee haw... and they don't even exist anymore...
not a socialist...if texas is a woman thats a big ass woman
Pretty soon we will be illegal aliens looking for work in Mexico, if this issue is not resolved.
obviously w/out government contracts San Antonio and much of Texas would be a ghost town. Texas: hahahaaha
Cassandra, who knew?
Hmmmmm,
You DO realize that the military is one of the FEW Constitutionally mandated entities our Federal governement is responsible for.
The "bad gov't" is all the government mandated entitlement, social programs and bureaucracy thats is sucking the life out of our economy.
Perry'll just further meddle in big govt by fiddling w/ child labor laws so that cherished fetus can get a damn job & support itself b4 it's out of diapers. At one of those McJobs Perry's sooooo proud of.
Yes, his libertarian stance (you do know not wanting big govt isn't a Republican ideal....right?) brings a tear to my eye.
....again.
WAAAAAAAH Perry is creating jobs and making Obama look bad, so we have to complain about what types of jobs are being created. WAAAAAAH.
You complaining about types of jobs in an economic downturn is like a starving man turning down a hotdog because he thinks he deserves steak.
You do realize Obama just got rid of some regulations and said specifically they were hampering empoyers.
You have some pretty greedy people in the Democrat party too.
Don't hate, educate.
Hey, Tony, ever turn off the Faux News and take a whiff of reality?
All of y'all praising San Antonio, Austin and El Paso for being in the top cities...
Betcha you didn't realize that all three of those cities are heavily Democratic and voted overwhelmingly for President Obama in 2008.
Comments?
Anyone else hear that little PMSNBC watching, New York Slimes reading ankle snipping liberal?
Wow, I can make snide comments just like a liberal. Yaaay for me!
Austin is a well known liberal bastion in Texas - it's the San Francisco of that state. I don't know much about San Antonio or El Paso to comment on.
Otherwise, what's your point? Red States are far out producing Blue States in job growth and creation. Read it and weep liberals:
http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2011/05/red-states-add-more-jobs-than-blue-part.html
That is partially true.
Except when it suits him to do so, of course.
The single largest employer in San Antonio is that socialistic federal government. Following that is USAA which sells insurance to people who work for that socialistic federal government. I wonder how San Antonio would be doing if we cut government spending as Rick Perry seems to think we should do. Then the entire country could sink to the level of Texas, last in the nation and beaten by Mississippi.
raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar
If Mississippi beats Texas, that is sad indeed. The back areas from San Antonio to the sea do have some real poverty going on, that I saw. Mississippi just seemed like one big third world nation from one side to the other- except the occasional mansion - I'll never go back there.
If hiring does start to take place whose going to get those jobs? Here in ms. every construction site there are very few americans, virtually no locals. So my question is still.. who will get the jobs?
Not all USAA members work for the government. In fact, most do not. And anyone not liking what we have in Texas are welcome to stay where they are.
So who performs the minimum wage jobs in San Antonio? Do they give those to illegals or bring in the working poor and middle class from all over the rest of the state to do those jobs?
Those who have been in the U.S. military (not the Euro ones) can explain to you how Non-Socialist it is.
Don't be stupid. Many who have insurance are civilians who do not work for USAA nor are they in the Military. Not all USAA members work for the government. My daughter and her husband is a good example. He is a prinicpal and she is a house wife.
I'll tell you who'll get all those new jobs bill "jobs" ...nobody. obama's plan is in the trash.
Warren feel free to leave this socialist country.
Yup. Socialism and Communism are great. Look how it turned out for the USSR.
LOL failure to learn from the past fail.
Unemployment rate is at 9.1%
Let's try 3 x that and perhaps we are getting closer to the actual reality.
Unemployment rate is at 27.3%
Does this sound more realistic in your neck of the woods? Really...Does it?
I agree with you 100%. My state has continually lied about their unemployment numbers since everything fell apart. I've been out of work for almost 4 years and trying to get hired around here is next to impossible, especially if you're over 35 years of age. My state's government continually brags about how good things are here but every time I show up at a hiring, 400 to 900 also show up. Makes one wonder it does.
I have no idea what it actually is.
I just know that the numbers are so overcooked you couldn't cut 'em with a chainsaw!
I totaly agree with Johnny, there is no accounting for the people who have exhausted their UI benefits, the real # is probably 33-41%
So-where's thelist? Theymentioned 4 towms.
the authors on this website are......hmmmmmmmm...challenged.....special......
stink
LOL yeah it's a big conspiracy. Watch out for those CIA helicopters circling your house.
"Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Corporate Rights, Hurrah!
Hurrah for the richest flag that bears a single star!"
((Sung to: "The Bonny Blue Flag"))
SoSickoftheGOP----Be glad to stay here, we're not unemployed. And I'll bet you ARE a Big City Democrat, without a job.
Sounds like fast food is making quite a hit in San Antonio!
If you are uneducated or a union sit on your asser you are gonna be out of luck. You should stay where you are
Whizbang-you are such a good little Republitard.
I heard they got some crap going on in Illy.
It doesn't mean a good cahoot what cities are hiring. If you're over 50 you might as well be bagging groceries at Kroger's. So much for years of experience and that overpriced college education ...
if you're over 50 you should be a door greeter at walmart. I don't trust you old folks touching my groceries.
yowza, in about 15 or 20 minutes, you will be 50.
Join Us!
raarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
yowza, it's time for you to take your meds; or have you already smoked your quota for the day? LOL!!!
raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Anybody hiring?
No.
I say all of you liberals stay where you are at! We don't want or need you to take oklahoma/texas jobs. You don't Like our politics or our conservitive ways, You can stay in baby killing, homo loving libtardville. Just don't be mad when business comes here and says forget you!
i love when people call other people names! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
i singled out no one sir! I made a general comment. And libtardville is a place not a person.
even better! stereotyping!
and i assumed that the "tard" in libtardville is in reference to someone stupid, which comes from the word retard. retard was once used to describe a special needs child. so the next time you see a special needs child, please by all means say, hey you @!$%#in retard how you doin? i'm sure it will brighten their day.
are you offended? are your food stamp loving ways considered special needs? Sorry tard!
you can say whatever you want, I just think that if you knew a special needs kid your view might be different on that word. if you don't care about the feelings of children then go ahead and keep using it. totally up to you. but seriously, next time you see one of those retards please let them know how stupid they are. and please, keep attacking me if it makes you feel better. keep attacking others if it makes you feel better. the most important thing is for you to feel better about yourself.
Yowza1 As a mother of a special needs child, I appreciate you trying to help whizbang realize how hurtful using the term "tard" is when it is being used to be derogatory and hateful. I wish this word would disappear the way the "N" word did among intelligent, civilized people.
Whizbang - YOU are offensive.
it has become a word commonly used.Originated in gamer lingo.
The yankees are still showing them.
your a damn liar ..no one down here needs you! Go home and stay you liberal faggot lover.
I think we should tax the living shi* out of the poor, that will give them some incentive to get rich.
Things will get better when the socialist is out of office, hang in there
Why should someone in their 40s (I just hit 50) get paid more to do the same job? What extra value does the company get for hiring someone who "dont' come cheap" because of this experience if the final work product is the same?
*IF* the epxerience has value to the company, then present it as you market yourself. Have facts and figures that show if the company pays you more than they would pay someone with less experience, that they will get a documented better ROI. People who do this, rarely have problems finding employment.
well said I'm 52 and continue to have no problems finding employment it's about marketing yourself and your skill set
Experience and long-proven performance do add value and productivity.
San Antonio is not the Rose in bloom everybody want you to believe.
gosh jon 30 k a year. Whaa!
Warren, Thanks for the info. I had always thought of San Antonio as being dominated by anti-big government Republicans.
Perry the praying (fake) cowboy can be bought over and over, as long as it's more than $5 grand large!
you ought to be thaning the over 50 crowd for giving you a life @!$%#!
The Over 50 crowd needs to Retire if they Can...and quit procrastinating
The Over 50 crowd had plans of retiring, but Obama took care of that.
