Boy i am glad those JAP companies are having trouble these days. This is good news for some of our parts suppliers to the American car market. We are making much better cars here in the USA these days and you have to be a complete IDIOT if you buy a foreign car. I am willing to bet my life that these parts came out of CHINA. Our car companies better be careful , because they too are bringing over 75% of their parts used in domestic car manufacture. We have lost over 5,000,000 manufacturing jobs to CHINA and JAPAN over the last 10 years or so. This is the reason our unemployment is above 20% these days. Buy a foreign car and you will surely ship over 20 US manufacturing jobs. AMERICAN consumer is a complete IDIOT. Chinese will take all your high tech jobs next. Your computer skills will not do you any good, because they are even smarter then the average American citizen and are willing to work harder for less. Go ahed you dumb ass AMERICAN consumer buy that next HONDA or TOYOTA or even COREAN crap. Next you will be standing in line at the soup kitchen probably owned by the CHINESE.
I own a 2002 CR-V, and have been happy with it for almost 9 years now. I'll have to find out if my car is affected, but I'm hoping not. That said, I will continue to drive the car, as it has given me nothing but joy.
The fit is called the jazz in some markets (Scandinavia!). There is an interesting reason why, having to do with one of the most egregious marketing errors the world has ever seen. Here's why.... (borderline NSFW text).
I don't have any of the above cars but do drive a Honda. I own a 2000 Honda Accord that has 179,000 miles and it runs and looks like new.
To one of the posters why should i pay my hard earned money on a car made by the big three when I know they won't be as goodf as what I have.
BTW too my car and virtually all Asian cars are built in the US. Say watch what you say. There's a good chance that the American car you brag about is built in either Canada or Mexico. So how is that helping the American worker? It doesn't only the CEO of the company. Atleast we know my car was built by a an American worker in Ohio. Last I looked that was part of America.
I agree with you ronald f. Based upon thirty years of vehicle purchasing experiences, when it comes to (sedans) I'll take a foreign make over American every single time and twice on Sunday. I support America in every category but this one. The Japanese, and others, have kicked our productive tails in the Auto market. Their cars are built better, last longer, and require less of the expensive maintenance costs. They are even catching up, if not surpassing us, in the truck market as well. As for this recall, it seems the Japanese may have moved away from what made their vehicles the best.
I've probably been "unlucky" in some cases, I'll admit. But, all my American vehicles are gone except for the truck. I (family members) currently have a 97 Honda Accord 190K, 97 Mazda MPV 210K, and a 96 Toyota Celica 259K. No major repairs and those and could hardly keep the American sedans on the road.
all this in the first 65,000 miles only the A/C compressor was under warranty. after that I have not had any other things in the last 60,000 miles. However the Power steering rack is starting to leak and so is the A/C Compressor
2008 Subaru Outback now 75,000 miles

That is it. no repairs other than maintance tires and brakes at 74K
My parents Explore sport track had front pads and rotor three times in the first 25K when they went after market they have not replaced it since now at 90K
the first three cars i owned were chevy and ford. and awful. my ford focus cost me thousands in repair bills. my honda element i own now has been solid since i bought it. i will never buy another american car.
what amusses me most about these automakers is that all of them, mercedes included, they're always, always, always being recalled. No matter which one it is, nothing is done right. EVER!!!!!! The average consumer spends their money on crap. I would never purchase a new vehicle, due to these indivduals never get it right. I always tell people that I would never purchase a new vehicle. As long as the dealership gets it off their lot, that's their only concern. Yes, it's under warranty. But, back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, that's when vehicles were manufactured. I drive a 1977 Ford F150. Don't drive it much, but it will outlast me.
That's what happens during mass production. Couple this with poor lot control, even worse training, a multitude of different gov't mandates from all parts of the world and the fact that the world isn't perfect and you will have these issues from time to time
Com on foreign cars owners be truthful. Either Toyota and the rest fixed your cars and didn't tell you about it or you won't admit the truth . And drive by any repair shop and see what cars are in their bays and you will see the real truth . If Toyota and Honda are so good I am wondering why they even have a service department at their dealers.
If Toyota and Honda are so good I am wondering why they even have a service department at their dealers.
I wonder It is to do service. At Lexus I did 8 Services a day I also did about 2 alignments a day. We did a lot of brake jobs also when they reached about 80-90K they needed brakes for the first time and you get the first, second and third Timing belt jobs you even had a few fourth timing belt. and yes you had the occasional repair you also had a lot of botched jobs by independent garages.
The article never said whether this recall was voluntary or mandated by the Government. I suspect that it was voluntary because it was done before any deaths. Our Government is too busy with party politcs that would help the American people. Good for Honda
I had an 07 CRV EX. It's driver's window rattled and shook all the time when it wasn't totally rolled up. Got rid of the car - was int eh shop more than I drove it when I first got it.
The window switches on teh CRV, TL, Civic & Accord (made in the US) have... "issues". I know - I worked on them during assembly.
A guy I worked with bought a new Fit and the drivers rear window went down & didn't come back up.
Its unfortunate and I hate to say...but i guess thats to be expected when the UAW and US workers (both with an entitlement mentality) get involved. Most of these are assembled in the US (Ohio and elsewhere) I wish made in the USA still meant something. Rather than "its my right" - "what's in it for me" and "you owe me" attitudes.
toyota and honda lead all car manufacturers in the total % of there cars that are made in america. Actually more chinese parts are made for GM and Chevy.
dj-122494 you are wrong. GM makes the most in America and Chevy is part of GM. If you have been paying attention you will notice that Toyota and Honda were hurt by earthquake the most because most of their manufacturing foot print is still in Japan. They mostly assembly some of their cars in America .And they pay Americans less to do it then their union employees in Japan. So maybe you should do some home work .
My 1st car was a '80 Ford Fairmont. Got it brand new. Was nothing but a headache. Within 3 months, the alternator needed to be replaced. A few months after that, the transmission needed work. What a piece of junk.
I have not bought "American" since then. Had a Nissan 200SX which I drove for many years (over 120k miles), and now have a '95 Honda Accord (132k miles) w/c is still running well. I will not buy an "American" car again. Nor will I buy a new one.
I miss the old VW Beetles, and the ever trusty Willys Jeep. I've had both, and even tho' they weren't the most comfortable vehicles on the road, they just chugged along forever! Think we could get those back?
I'm still driving my 94 Jeep cherokee, basic box, manual, straight six, over 240,000 miles on the original engine, and I've had to replace the water pump once, the fan for the air conditioner and heater once, and some of its body parts are acting "peculiar." Guess I'll keep it til there's no one left that can work on something that doesn't require a computer hookup to tell 'em what the problem is.....so, when my 85 yr. old uncle dies, (he still goes to his shop everyday and works on the "oldies" like mine!) I guess I'll have to bury my Jeep with him. Then I don't know WHAT I'll buy.......
I have a 2001 Honda Civic. Last Friday I was driving with my family and I smelled something burning. I noticed some smoke coming out of my drivers side windo switches. I took it in the shop and the technician said I was lucky it didn't start a fire. I just had it replaced and heard about the recall the first full day I had it back. From what I have read, the 01 Civics weren't involved.
I have a 2001 Civic. Last Thursday I was driving with my family and smelled some burning. I looked down and noticed smoke coming from my drivers side window switches. When I took it into the shop I was told, I was lucky it didn't catch on fire. I have been driving Hondas for the last 25 years, and this is the first time I have been dissapointed, especially since the recall came out the first full day I got my car back from the shop. However, I don't think 01 Civics are in the recall.
Let me drive ur jap cars... Ill guarntee that they wouldnt last me a week let alone a month... I had to drive a pos YARIS it sucked gettin on the highway, it sucked tryin to pass, cant see out of the driver side ( B-pillar was in the way) c-pillar was in my view when i try to look back couldnt see out on the drivers mirror to good...
My friend had a 96 nissan maxima n he had to replace the cv halfshafts on his car... $1800 for the pair n thats NOT including labor which he did himself...
My other friend had a 97 mazda RX7 with the rotary engine his starter went out n non of the autoparts store carried it n had to special order it... That cost him $800
now for my 00 Grand Am cv halfshafts r $100 for a pair n $120 for the starter but i havent replaced them at all... The whole car is still original except for the battery.... So screw u all who says american cars r junk cause honestly u all baby the hell out of those pos cars... I drove that yaris n 3 days it finally broke down...
Auto 101 maybe u should let a REAL mechanic work on ur car... My sis had a 00 Ford Focus n NOT once did she ever had a problem like u with it until she had to trade it in cause the car couldnt fit 2 child seats in the back seat...

What do you want you bought the smallest car they offer with the smallest engine they have. if you want passing power buy a V6 or more any 4 banger just lacks guts even the 4 banger Ford Focus has no guts. Now if you get a 4 banger with a turbo then you have passing power.
My friend had a 96 nissan maxima n he had to replace the cv halfshafts on his car... $1800 for the pair n thats NOT including labor which he did himself...
That is what happens when you don't replace the CV boot when it leaks. Usually you just rebuild/replace the joint.

That is what happens when you buy a car with a motor that only they have. IF only one car has it then they wont make aftermarket parts for it.

You would only have to replace them if you don't keep up on your repairs.

I am a REAL Technician. But I don't really care what you think. My employer knows my skills and that is why the ask me to stay. It is also how I can get a job in an hour with no problems. The parts were easy to replace. Now with the Ford I didn't list the recalls. and yes it is long list but it is the parts suppler/car maker making things right. and you can fit two car seats in it and three people we have done it.
I drove that yaris n 3 days it finally broke down...
More Prof you don't take care of your car.
honestly u all baby the hell out of those pos cars...
If treating it right is babying the I'm proud to care for my car.
Let me drive ur jap cars... Ill guarntee that they wouldnt last me a week let alone a month...
Why would someone let you abuse and miss treat their car?
I got 2001 Honda Civic Lx w/ 83000 miles on it. used it just within my area. Until it lost power. I immediately I knew it was a transmission problem. i googled this issue and found out there were so many owners that have the same problem.I found out there was a recall out of this problem. I think there was a lawsuit that is related to it.There was a recall but i didnt not receive a notice of recall. Fast forward, I got 2007CRV which is on recall, I inquired the dealers about it and told me my CRV based on the vein no. is not part of the recall.I thought they are trying to minimize losses by selectively applying certain applications like based on VEIN .#. Im set to buy a new car this month still considering HONDA but im losing my trust to this company
Another person that has no Idea about cars. Did you ever think your car does not apply to the recall because it has a different part and they can tell that by the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Or you had a product update and you were out of the warranty. You may see something as common when looking on the Internet but many more have not had this issue.

It's a shame that the actual information you have is shadowed by your underlying racism.
Drago- you are an idiot. Corean? what the hell is that ? It's K-O-R-E-A-N....
Drago, what to do when the Ford Fusion is made in Mexico and the Toyota Camry is made in Kentucky?
Drago- You as a adult act and sound like an idiot!
The Toyota Highlander is made in Indiana.
Let me make a wild guess..... Were the parts all from....China ? ding ding ding!!!
Well, we know they weren't from the U.S., as we can't make any parts these days. At least the Chinese have jobs.
I own a 2002 CR-V, and have been happy with it for almost 9 years now. I'll have to find out if my car is affected, but I'm hoping not. That said, I will continue to drive the car, as it has given me nothing but joy.

No, it's a 1970s stereo type you guys are pushing.
My 89 Chrysler LeBaron... 179K miles till I got tired of it... no repairs. nada.
My 93 Ford Aerostar van, 120K miles... I'll get rid of it because it's old.. no repairs.
My wifes 2006 Ford Escape... not a hint of problems... nada.
BUY AMERICAN... the quality is equal or higher now.
A robot in America is just as precise as a robot in Japan.

It has nothing to do with your CRV just the new CR-V crossover.
Ya won't catch me in a jap crap death mobile EVER

All manufacturers have recalls. They make machines ... machines break.
Or they're made/designed bad to begin with
