The only reason why I can see why this spike happened is due to preparation for going back to school, and sales on summer items in preparation for fall/winter stocks.
We have elected to the office of the president someone who is a Marxist academic that never so much as ran a lemonade stand or actually ever managed anything, and all his Marxist policies that perform so well in academic theory are suffering the expected miserable failures when applied to real world situations.
We are now stuck with a president that is in far over his head and still wants to be re-elected when anyone else might be embarrassed by such performance, and I can remember when liberals actually thought he was some kind of brilliant person rather than the dim bulb he's turning out to be.
He's continually propped up by the socialistic mainstream media that are obviously more interested in turning this country into a socialist state than caring about the inevitable economic collapse that Obama's continued presence in the White House would insure.
This is a classic example of Ideology trumping all else and is precisely why consumers confidence is in the toilet and in such a state of gloom.
1992 -- The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) Earth Summit takes place in Rio de Janeiro this year, headed by Conference Secretary-General Maurice Strong. The main products of this summit are the Biodiversity Treaty and Agenda 21, which the U.S. hesitates to sign because of opposition at home due to the threat to sovereignty and economics. The summit says the first world's wealth must be transferred to the third world.
July 18, 1993 -- CFR member and Trilateralist Henry Kissinger writes in the Los Angeles Times concerning NAFTA: "What Congress will have before it is not a conventional trade agreement but the architecture of a new international system...a first step toward a new world order."
The DISEASE must be addressed not only the symptoms.

We are about to see the voters vote for the same ideals, which started the crappy economy. Free Trade is not even being talked about, but is the only way to get out of this mess. We must kill Free Trade and balance the trade deficits or the US can't recover. Doing anything to cut taxes, limit government, and reduce the deficit is just BS. Any member of congress, which focuses on these is either stupid or a greedy bastard.
I hope the American People like to be poor and can only afford the basics, because you keep voting for people who's one and only one reason from being a politician, is to increase the wealth of the already wealthy.
How can the American and European people elect people who want to limit your society and the average person's power. How can you sell your children and grand children into slavery for low taxes and a promise, which has been proven false, to create jobs.
The American people think God will save them, but I have a message for you. Sow what you want to reap, and reap what you sow.
Selfish people are not good people, because the bible teaches love and to love is to care about others.
Free trade is a bust. The US should have demanded FAIR trade.

(chuckles) The US certainly insisted on trade alright... Exploitation of the Capitalistic markets. This is a big reason why most of the cheap crap keeps coming from China, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam, while so many Americans are work displaced and unemployed - yet corporations like Walmart, CISCO and DELL computers are recording record profits.
The majority voting believe we never made it out of the recession. For once on this site, I agree. It was government flooding the market with dollars and government bailing out states, coupled with a meager infrastructure spending and tax credits that kept the US economy ambling along. The real problems were never addressed because this administration with all its bright academics thought throwing money at the economy would bring about a V shape recovery.
This president and the merry democrats could not get it into their heads that HOW that money was spent was KEY to any recovery. It was essential that NOT A DIME get wasted. We needed investment in projects with guaranteed positive results, not pie in the sky. While many stimulus projects had merit, they failed the test meant to create jobs or savings LONG TERM. Over time hundreds of projects that got stimulus money but were utter waste of money, got public attention and now wrath. There is no appetite for further stimulus because FEW trust the government is smart enough to spend money wisely. This is the same problem about raising taxes. Once taxes are raised, the government is chomping at the bit to spend that new found revenue.
The MI confidence index is pathetic now because there is a failure of leadership and frankly any sort of plan. The public knows Obama is out of ideas. Even after 9/11 the Michigan consumer sentiment index didn't drop below 80.
Obama must have learned socialism from that commie school he went to. Yale, wasn't it? They teach socialism in Yale?
theboys,
I agree with your comments about the (lack of) confidence in government. I'm not a big Keynesian fan, but I could support a narrowly directed stimulus if I thought the money would be spent wisely. But, I have zero confidence in DC to spend wisely.
Also, one thing to consider is since we have lost most of our low and mid-level manufacturing, stimulus spending does not have the same multiplier affect it might have had in the past.
To quote a politician talking about the Bush stimulus (I'm not listing the speakers name because I don't want to get into partisan politics):
"Let me get this straight. We're going to borrow money from China and give it to people in the US so they can buy goods made in China. Who's economy are we stimulating?"
Wet Willy, who do you support?..."Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power."
Benito Mussolini would have loved the Citizens United decision
"When they show you who they are...believe them!"
There's that silly Daleth List again (1.2)....HA HA HA
Prints 33% of what everybody wants to hear so they'll inadvertantly check off a 'yes' to legalize drugs, release felony prisoners, raise taxes AND keep all the entitlement packages going strong.
Pathetic....
Yes, the massive debt and government spending is of utmost importance but just, if not, as importantly are the types of jobs we are creating domestically. Our economy, for the past 50 years has shifted from a domestic exportable manufacturing industry economy to a service sector and consumption economy. In 1960 our economy was based on 53% exportable manufacturing. Today it is 9%. We used to be the leading export nation, today we are third behind China and Germany. No economy based on service, or certainly consumption, has ever created the wealth, prosperity and standard of living that we have become accustomed to.
We can never export domestic services to the extent needed to create, let alone sustain, an economy. Consumption can only result from consumers having the money to purchase items and create commerce. We can’t export entitlements. We can’t export domestic social service programs. We cannot export domestic road and bridge building.
Domestic exportable manufacturing industry is the only sector that can bring in the necessary “new money” revenues for the years to come to correct the massive debt we have accumulated. It is the only sector that can bring in "new money" to our Treasury and our savings accounts. New money must come in from abroad as payment for goods and products designed, produced and exported from our facilities HERE.
We don't build anything here anymore. We must return to mass production of necessary consumer goods. Refrigerators, washing machines, lawnmowers, textiles, electronics, agriculture and many more must be built/grown here and sold to the rest of the world. The profits are then used, via taxation, to repay our government and personal debts. Hopefully to a point where we can once again enjoy that old-fashioned habit of saving money.
Trade Policies. Recently we are considering to further "free trade" agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia. Panama obtained duty-free status for their textile exports meaning we do not profit on any of their import but we pay duties to import to Panama. We must repeal NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT and the WTO. WE DON’T NEED FREE TRADE, WE NEED FAIR TRADE!
Taxes. Our criminal Progressive tax system MUST GO! Both our personal and corporate taxes must be reformed. No significant industry will return to our shores when we have the highest corporate tax levels in the world. Why would they? We must decrease our corporate tax level to a flat 20%, without caveats, and attract long term job creating industries back to our soil. A Fair Tax of 15%-20% must replace our 71,000+ page tax system for individuals.
Regulations. Recently a "possibly endangered" lizard in Texas halted a huge oil exploration project losing thousand of potential jobs and revenue to the state. So, saving a lizard is more important than tens of thousands of jobs and revenue for a state in fiscal chaos. This is madness! The GAO recently exposed $100-$200 Billion dollars of waste in our massively redundant government bureaucracy. We keep being told we have $500 BILLION DOLLARS in waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare yet nothing is ever done to correct it. Now we want to expand this system. Will $1 TRILLION DOLLARS in waste, fraud and abuse satisfy you?
Unions. Intervention in the manufacturing industry continues to be a death knell to corporate America. The recent National Labor Relations Bureau's intervention into Boeing building a manufacturing plant in South Carolina, a Right to Work state, from Seattle, a union state, has shown the audacity of politicalization of our crumbling manufacturing industry. These criminal and partisan policies must end and free-market principles allowed to once again drive the strongest economic engine in history. Unions MUST become industry supportive rather than destructive.
We have absolutely NO domestic energy policy other than demonizing the proven industries and hoping Barrack Hussein's unproven, wet-dream, only survivable with massive subsidies "Green-Initiative policy. This is insanity. There is a continuous global demand for energy and we are the most resource rich nation in the world. An all the above energy policy approach must be initiated immediately to create millions of jobs and international commerce.
Our average GDP is at 0.9% for the past 2 quarters, energy and food prices are skyrocketing, unemployment continues to be stagnant, inflation-- true inflation--is between 8-10%, consumer confidence continues to be dropping as discretionary spending falls due to escalating costs. Uncertainty in our government’s ability to aggressively address our collapsing economy, S&P's lowering of our Treasury bond credit rating and the IMF's declaration that the "Era of America" may be over as soon as 2016 with China becoming the economic superpower are truly dramatic events. Our economy has never been so threatened and the government refuses to take the Draconian steps necessary for fear of losing their precious votes in 2012.
These are the issues being ignored in Washington. Until these economic and other issues are addressed nothing else should matter. Our livelihoods, security and the future of our nation and children depend on this.
I love my country, but I fear my government.
Man, markmich! I agree completely with your analysis of the failed policy of so-called "free-trade". That ideology is just one part of the larger system of free-market liberal capitalist propaganda. Therefore, I assume you are ready to come over to the workers' side, and oppose the larger agenda of corporate America, and the global multinational slide into international wage slavery. If so, welcome! I don't think you actually fear the government -- I think you -- rightfully -- fear government of the rich, by the privileged, and for the corporations. Let's come together to build a real democracy -- THAT is the solution.
:)
Just for sport go to www.manta.com and type in House of Representatives, or Nancy Pelosi or Barrack Obama or the IRS or any other governmental agency or elected official. They're all listed as businesses. What was the definition of fascism?
Demlefty
Let's come together to build a real democracy
Thanks, but I prefer to build a real Republic.
A Republic with its individual rights rather than the collective.
A Republic with its true free-market economy not bastardized by criminal progressive taxation, irrational ideologic regulations of proven industries and less union interference and corruption.
A Republic that embraces Constitutional Originalism rather than modernists and instrumentalists who believe you can interpret it based on your ideology.
My suspicion is that you probably work for one of those American corporations but you don't know the CEO or the Board of Directors. You denounce corporatism but now when your social and economic justice beliefs are all falling apart you come running to the corporation to save you.
You might be better inclined to become aware of true free market principles and how they worked just fine until Progressivism polluted our economic system with their collective beliefs. If you doubt that just look at the European Union and other failing socialist nations.
But I'm sure you're convinced that Barrack Hussein has a better socialist plan just because he says so.
Good luck.
Well let's see. Layoff people. People out of work. Out of work people don't spend. Out of work people don't save. When out of work longer they draw down their savings. When they are out of work longer they draw down their retirement savings(money in the market). Layoff some more people. The process repeats. Layoff some more people. The process repeats. Layoff some more people. The process repeats. Every time it does repeat it grows and grows. And when they took my job there was no one to speak out.
WHAT YOU SHOULD FEAR!!
Following diplomatic negotiations dating back to 1986 among the three nations, the leaders met in San Antonio, Texas, on December 17, 1992, to sign NAFTA. U.S. Republican President George H. W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas, each responsible for spearheading and promoting the agreement, ceremonially signed it. The agreement then needed to be ratified by each nation's legislative or parliamentary branch.
Before the negotiations were finalized, Bill Clinton came into office and passed by a Republican controlled congress
Who was president in 1986? Republican Ron Reagan
George H. W. Bush's administration, along with the Progressive Conservative Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, spearheaded the negotiations of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which would eliminate the majority of tariffs on products traded among the United States, Canada, and Mexico, to encourage trade amongst the countries. The treaty also restricts patents, copyrights, and trademarks, and outlines the removal of investment restrictions among the three countries
Who worked out the details of NAFTA?
Republican President George H. W. Bush
The repeal of provisions of the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 by the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act effectively removed the separation that previously existed between investment banking which issued securities and commercial banks which accepted deposits. The deregulation also removed conflict of interest prohibitions between investment bankers serving as officers of commercial banks. Experts believe that this repeal directly contributed to the severity of the Financial crisis of 2007–2011 by allowing Wall Street investment banking firms to gamble with their depositors' money that was held in commercial banks owned or created by the investment firms. Passed by a Republican controled congress
Who created the too big to fail Wall Street firms?
Phil Gramm (Republican, Texas), Rep. Jim Leach (Republican, Iowa), and Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (Republican, Virginia).
Where does Phil Gramm work now?
As of 2009, Republican Gramm is employed by UBS as a Vice Chairman of the Investment Bank division
Who ruled that corporations could spend an unlimited amounts of money on political campaigns? In effect buying politicians.
Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 US 08-205 (2010), was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court holding that corporate funding of independent political broadcasts in candidate elections cannot be limited—because of the First Amendment. The 5–4 decision, in favor of Citizen United, resulted from a dispute over whether the non-profit corporation Citizens United could air a film critical of Hillary Clinton, and whether the group could advertise the film in broadcast ads featuring Clinton's image, in apparent violation of the 2002 Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, commonly known as the McCain–Feingold Act.
Anthony McLeod Kennedy appointed by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1988.
John Glover Roberts, Jr. nominated by Republican President George W. Bush
Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. nominated by Republican President George W. Bush.
Antonin Gregory Scalia nominated by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1986,
Clarence Thomas nominated by Republican President George H. W. Bush
Who spends more? Who gets us in debt?
Spending during Republican President Reagan's two terms (FY 1981-88) averaged 22.4% GDP, well above the 20.6% GDP average from 1971 to 2009. In addition, the public debt rose from 26.1% GDP in 1980 to 41.0% GDP by 1988. In dollar terms, the public debt rose from $712 billion in 1980 to $2,052 billion in 1988, a roughly three-fold increase. Reagan signed into law 11 major tax increases that raised taxes by $133 billion in 1988 or 2.7 percent of GDP.
The U.S. national debt grew significantly from 2001 to 2008, both in dollars terms and relative to the size of the economy (GDP), due to a combination of tax cuts and wars in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Budgeted spending under Republican George W. BushPresident Bush averaged 19.9% of GDP, similar to his predecessor President Bill Clinton, although tax receipts were lower at 17.9% versus 19.1%
The last two years of the Republican George W. Bush's presidency were characterized by the worsening subprime mortgage crisis, which resulted in dramatic government intervention to bailout damaged financial institutions and a weakening economy.
The tax cuts had been largely opposed by American economists, including the Bush administration's own Economic Advisement Council. In 2003, 450 economists, including ten Nobel Prize laureate, signed the Economists' statement opposing the Bush tax cuts, sent to President Bush stating that "these tax cuts will worsen the long-term budget outlook... will reduce the capacity of the government to finance Social Security and Medicare benefits as well as investments in schools, health, infrastructure, and basic research... [and] generate further inequalities in after-tax income."
President Bush also signed into law Medicare Part D, which provides additional prescription drug benefits to seniors. The program was not funded by any changes to the tax code. According to the GAO, this program alone created $8.4 trillion in unfunded obligations in present value terms, a larger fiscal challenge than Social Security
The cumulative debt of the United States in the fiscal years 2001-2007 was approximately $4.08 trillion, or about 40.8% of the total national debt at the time of that completion of approximately $10.0 trillion. All under Republican George W. Bush
OMG......SORRY, BUT GOTTA CUT AND PASTE!

@justoneguy
As you may already know I am not a hugh Obama fan. In fact I voted for McCain in 2008. In all reality though I don't know that McCain would have done any better under the existing circumstances.
Let's face it. We have about forty years of one screwup after another to correct. It's going to take a lot longer than three crummy, bickering filled years to accomplish that whether you (or I) like it or not. Obama is definitely not the messiah and therefore one should expect no miracles.
So... perhaps we should place the blame squarely where it belongs. On ourselves for being foolish enough to elect the current batch of good looking gladhanders with wonderful smiles instead of people with brains.
If this foolish partisan crap doesn't end soon this nation may well dissolve into fragments in much the same manner as the former Soviet Union. If one is in favor of that taking place by all means continue the partisan B.S.
For those not in favor of such a happening maybe the time has come to strongly encourage our so-called representatives to strive to reach some middle ground instead of all this special interest horsesh!t. Start going back and fixing the mistakes instead of adding to them.
When you tax, you take money away from people and give it to the government to spend. Everyone knows how wasteful, stupid and corrupt government spending is at all levels. Therefore, we need to cut government spending and give the money back to the people. When government gets smaller, your wallet magically gets fatter!
The Problem:
Government is a burden its people. Government is, in a sense, similar to a gigantic wagon that the people are required to pull. There are four kinds of people in this country:
1. Producers who pull the wagon (the good folks who pay all of the taxes);
2. Loafers who do nothing while watching others pull the wagon (the lazy that are permitted by the government politicians to pay no taxes);
3. Moochers who are getting a free ride in the wagon (the able bodied voters who have voted in politicians who give them earned income tax credits, food stamps, free healthcare, housing assistance, grants, etc.); and
4. Looters who take money from the producers to give to those who did not earn it and who forcibly require the producers to pull the wagon with no help from anyone else (the politicians who take money, taxes, at the point of a gun).
Is it any wonder why our system requires 25% of its citizens to pay virtually all of the taxes?
The Solution:
1. We need to get all of the mooching deadbeats out of the wagon. If you are able bodied, GET OUT OF THE WAGON RIGHT NOW! Yes, we are compassionate nation and have plenty to take care of the disabled, but that's where it stops. If you can work, you have to get out and make it on your own.
2. Everyone who is able to work (yes, even those who don't make much) must help pull the wagon; they too must pay taxes. We all benefit from a stable government. No more watching others do all of the work and pay all of the taxes. Everyone should be required to pay taxes not just the rich. Almost half of the workers in this country pay no taxes. That has to stop. No wonder we are broke.
3. It's time to let everyone know that the government is not your mama. You are responsible for yourself, not the government. It's not the proper role of government to take money from one group (producers) and give it to another (moochers). How did we become a nation of whining dependents? How did we become a nation of moochers where people get a tax refund who paid no taxes? How did we become a nation of whining food stamp, healthcare, welfare recipients? It's sickening. Do we have no pride anymore? Are we that selfish?
4. When everyone is required to help pull the wagon, then folks will realize what a burden pulling the wagon can be. Then, maybe we will start electing politicians who promise to lighten the burden, to throw people out of the wagon, to expect every able bodied person to pull their weight, who are required by voters to cut spending instead of increasing it.
5. When we require everyone to pitch in and help pull the wagon, politicians won't be able to buy the vote of the moochers any longer. The opposite will happen; the former moochers now tax payers (out of their own selfish interest) will demand that taxes be lowered. When that day comes, we will be on the road to recovery.
Government spending must shrink so that we can put more money back in the pockets of the folks who will spend it most wisely (i.e. the folks who earned it). That's the solution.
Devils son
Before the negotiations were finalized, Bill Clinton came into office and passed by a Republican controlled congress
The 1994 U.S. House of Representatives election was held on November 8, 1994, in the middle of President Bill Clinton's first term. As a result of a 54-seat swing in membership from Democrats to Republicans, the Republican Party gained a majority of seats in the United States House of Representatives for the first time since 1954.
You are wrong, get your facts straight.
You are right; NAFTA was ratified by Congress in December 1993, when both houses were Democrat controlled. However, in both houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives, the majority vote was by Republicans with strong support by Democrats. President Clinton supported ratification. I would love to know which Senators and which Congressmen supported ratification and where they are now. Anyone know that information?????
Americans are now accustomed to the NEW ECONOMY of War For Profit. The absolute Power of The Banks. The unrelenting lust for wealth by the Financial and Insurance Cartels.
Americans now realize they have lost their voice and influence over their nation. Americans have been conditioned to accept that whatever benefit there is to be an American citizen they are undeserving of such. Supply Side Economics is entering its 30th year of "Wealth Redistribution." Either accept it. Or end it.
30 years of Reaganomics and here we are. You know what trickles down? Ya, you got that right.
No, Reagonomics got us two busted bubbles and the rich scrambling to grab up what's left.
blah blah blah TWO WARS! Roger (#5.1)Based on the free fall we were in at the end of the Bush years that is so obviously not true. The only thing Reagan's strategy did well was increase the riches of the top 5% of the population. The rest of us are working harder for less.
justoneguy, the myth of the "supermajority" is just that. There was never a voting block that the Dems could count on because of the blue dogs and you know it. Your points are fabrications.
Ohhh, I see now it's not just republicans,It's "blue dogs" uh huh.
Oneguy: Just once, I wish the Dems had "some semblance of testicles". It might give them the power to stand up to bullies who hold the nation's economy hostage for the tradeoff of what working Americans have struggled for for over a hundred years. If you don't believe that, then PLEASE don't take Labor Day off! You don't deserve it.
Working Americans have struggled for a prez to give away tax dollars for Ca$h for Clunker$? Imaginary "Shovel Ready Jobs" at 500K apiece??.
Maybe you can come up with some concrete examples of exactly how Obama has benefitted this Nation without bringing up anybody but Obama. Could you give me a couple of successful programs that have helped our economy? Or, I'll make it easier...just one?
Remember now, only say Obama has..... without bringing up anybody else.
michigan voter...
better go back to government 101. It's not opinion...the Dems DID have a historic supermajority for several months (it's stupid to even argue the point). I'm going to count your completely uninformed statement to sincere ignorance. Otherwise, when did they even try to come up with a budget before the Tea Party materialized? Not a bit...and now it's Reagan's fault...pathetic
No justoneguy, it's stupid to ignore reality. Just because someone has a D by their name does not mean they are going to vote along party lines. Saying there was a super majority is technically correct but that's not the way it works out in reality. The blue dogs vote with the republicans a good share of the time.
Not coming up with a budget in the past couple years also didn't get us were were are.
Pathetic is to not dig into the numbers and look at what was really happening in the past 30 years. The Reagan era ushered in a new time when those of us who work for our money have less of the money because it is flowing up to the top 5% faster than it has since before the great depression.
I'd tell you to study the facts, but I know you're being wilfully ignorant and just want to stir up problems.
We made it hard for business to operate here, now they have gone somewhere else.
We made it hard for business to operate here, now they have gone somewhere else.
No we wanted to be paid enough to eat so they took the jobs somewhere else, they still seem to want us to buy all their overpriced @!$%# though, I don't see too many chinese or indians buying their products.
To get our economy jump started, raise demand for goods and services. Giving money to the rich who hoard their savings won't get us jobs. We need someone to spend on goods and services. I wonder who that someone will be.
I see that 65.7% of the respondents to this poll don't know the definition of "recession".
It would seem to me that the waters are still receding... How many articles have I read where things have yet to hit bottom? Once things hit bottom, then I will believe it's a depression.
and 34.7% don't get how the government can juggle the books to suit their objectives.
And 98% do not realize that they ARE the government and can't look in a mirror.
spider-737231
I see that 65.7% of the respondents to this poll don't know the definition of "recession".
Don't get it do you? Recession is when your neighbor looses his job, depression is when you loose yours.
If you read a news story lately, any news story, you'd see that the American people, as a whole, do not hold Obama as the principle culprit in this mess. A little objectivity would do you well.
What is the President's JOB? Is he or is he not the CEO of this country? And as such, he should Lead which he has not idea how to do. He is "Ruling" with "Governance".......and he's lousy. Get him out of there and get someone in who is Pro-Business and get this country moving again.
Show me ONE banker who was indicted for creating this mess...Yes, that began BEFORE Obama became President. Can't do it, can you????
He's not ruling squat shrill. He's stuck between a Rock(Bush's folly) and a Hard Place (Tea Baggers). Go ahead with your nonsense. There are still a few people out here who think and see and know to keep the boob tube turned off.
Amused cut the crap, he had the house and senate yet failed to act on the debt ceiling ,budget, immigration reform, troop withdrawal.Instead he spent lots of money on a stimulus that didn't work and a healthcare bill which is going to be thrown out for being unconstitutional .
You cut the crap. Repubs didn't want him to act on any of that and stopped him in his tracks with filibusters. What, now you want to revise history? The stimulus only failed in the mind of non-thinking republicans who look for talking points, not anyone who is interested in the actual outcome of the plan. If it failed, please return last year's tax credit that you got and quit driving on those roads that were fixed in several states. Once you finish that, call out your governor for saying he had shovel ready projects when the only thing shovel ready was what was spewing out of most of their mouths while they had their hand out. And if you live in Texas or Minnesota please return what you stole from the rest of us to balance your state budget with money that was supposed to be spent on works projects to save or create jobs. And the debate is still out on healthcare until the SCOTUS rules on it. Appeals courts can't develop a consistent opinion. So nice try. You can have your own opinion, but let's not try and invent facts.
Then how did stimulus and healthcare get passed, Obama himself said shovel ready wasn't shovel ready stimulus worked in those minds that are delusional 9.2 unemployment S&P downgrade I would really hate to see what it would look like if it failed. Thanks for jumping to conclusion about my party affiliation ,sorry but I'm not a Republican. You seem to be the one a little fuzzy on facts. As far as stealing from you please you have nothing I want or need, I've actually worked for what I have. You make a lot of excuses for a lack luster President that's just as bad as Bush. So once again I say cut the crap!

Then how did stimulus and healthcare get passed, Obama himself said shovel ready wasn't shovel ready stimulus worked in those minds that are delusional 9.2 unemployment S&P downgrade I would really hate to see what it would look like if it failed.
Hey wlee, how many jobs per month were we loosing during the last three months of the Bush Administration...come on...how many? And the initial Wall Street bailouts he did. How much of that was paid back...oh...that's right, he didn't ask for the money back, he just gave it to them! Do you suppose 2 wars (unfunded and off the books) while giving unfunded tax breaks to billionaires and Medicare Part D give away to the drug companies (also unfunded, read unfunded as borrowed), might have something to do with the national debt...do ya think?!!
Ol Doc - Banks have paid back the most of the money - They had too to gain control of their companies again. The money was spent else where when it came instead of returning to the treasury, which was the dems idea so they didnt have to go through the legislative process to get more money to spend. get your facts right. And the bankers? The largest losses were experienced by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - both government subsidized institutions - whose losses were greeater than all other banks combined - where did the CEO's of these institutions go. They work for Obama as advisers.
On top of that, your man has tripled the debt in the last 2.5 years. Our Daily cost on the debt went from 1.2 billion per day (Bush) to 3.7 per day today.
I was laid off in OCT 2008... I was amazed to see the president pushing for Health Care Reform while each month I was not even getting a response from potential employers. Each month unemployment kept going up and up but still I the headlines read OBAMA Health Care Reform... by June 2009 I knew this president was clueless.
After the biggest downturn since the Great Depression, I would have thought getting Americans back to work would have been the top priority. My guess is he thought the stimulus would handle that. What a huge mistake.
Now, here we are over 2 years later and I read.. Obama looking for ideas to "stimulate job growth"! Unbelievable!
WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER.
There should have been only ONE focus for his first year.. JOBS!
To AnnieRich, and anyone who may be uneducated enough to agree with her. This country has a President, not a CEO, because the United States is a democracy and as such, our leaders must represent the public interest -- as contrasted from a corporate CEO, whose mandate is to generate the most profit -- regardless of how much public destruction is wrought. It is not the job of leaders in a democracy to be "pro-business", anymore than it is to be anti-business. It is their job to be pro-their constituents. THAT and that alone will create economic self-sufficiency.
Socialism is Obama's main priority, and he is using the Cloward-Piven strategy to achieve it. ACORN strong arming Fannie and Freddie, as well as the banks to give sub prime loans is what caused the housing downfall.
I was laid off in OCT 2008... I was amazed to see the president pushing for Health Care Reform while each month I was not even getting a response from potential employers.
You do realize who the president was at the time, right? (I doubt it)
Socialism is Obama's main priority, and he is using the Cloward-Piven strategy to achieve it. ACORN strong arming Fannie and Freddie, as well as the banks to give sub prime loans is what caused the housing downfall.
Yeah he did it 2 years before he was even elected,
You guys are why nobody takes the right seriously.
I didnt say Obama did it, I said ACORN did it, learn how to read.
"Most of the ladies and gentlemen who mourn the passing of the nation's leaders wouldn't know a leader if they saw one. If they had the bad luck to come across a leader, they would find out that he might demand something from them, and this impertinence would put an abrupt and indignant end to their wish for his return."ATTRIBUTION DETAIL »

A swing and a miss, boy you are more fun to tease than a cat and just as easy to distract with nonsense apparently. Faux sure paid off with their 2 cents worth of string didn't they?
This is pretty straightforward. Not sure the numbers are exact, but you will get the picture.
Federal Budget: $ 3,820,000,000,000 (3.82 Trillion)
Income: $ 2,170,000,000,000 (2.17 Trillion)
New Debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000 (1.65 Trillion)
Amount Cut: $ 38,500,000,000 (38.5 Billion) – about 1% of the total budget.
National Debt Total: $ 14,271,000,000,000 before this year’s budget.
Harry Reid is calling this a "historic amount".
The President said it is a "historic deal".
John Boehner simply said, "We've come to an agreement".
Let's Put This In Perspective.
It helps me to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to.
Let's remove eight zeroes from those numbers and pretend this is a household budget for the fictitious Jones family.
Amount of money the Jones family spent this Year: $ 38,200
Total income for the Jones family this Year: $21,700
Amount of new debt added to the credit card this Year: $ 16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
New outstanding balance on credit card: $159,210
So last week, the Jones family sat down at the kitchen table and agreed to cut
$385 from their yearly budget.
A historic amount!
The Jones’ should be worried and so am I. Time to clean congress and audit the Fed and balance the books. Be sure to impress this on the 30 and under crowd as they are critical in winning elections.
If you can answer this correctly, you can answer the question on what action to take on raising the Federal debt ceiling.
You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup and you have sewage up to your ceiling.
What do you do? Raise the ceiling or pump the crap out?
Jone's family and U. S. government need more revenue.
Solution:
Jone's family members get a second job.
U.S. government raise taxes and close loopholes.
Problems solved.
How many times are you going to cut and paste this nonsense? If we follow the tea party we're down the drain with the crap. Wake up!
Amused: and which incumbants do you think should stay? They've all had a hand in the irresponsibility. So just let them all 'ride' and keep going into the abyss? NO!
This is about right. The Jones family needn't worry though, since they can borrow an infinite amount of money from the rest of the world and not worry about repaying it. And if the borrowing dries up, they can always write bad checks to keep current on their debts and even slip in a nice vacation, a new car and an addition to their home. No problem.
Roger that kind of simple mindedness is what has us in trouble right now. It is not responsible to think that "voting the bums out" will fix anything. We tried that. We tried it in 08 and we tried it again in 10. Look where we are. We've made our government non-functional trying to "vote the bums out". Why not try going to a local party meeting with a solution. The platforms that these parties govern by are established through these local meetings which then graduate up to the state and then national levels. By just voting you're not going to accomplish squat. By the time you get to vote in November it is way to late to affect policy. It's funny to read all of the stuff on these vines and discover how very few people actually realize how the process works or where these crazy policies really come from.
You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup and you have sewage up to your ceiling.
What do you do? Raise the ceiling or pump the crap out?
Or you can do what the Tpublicans are out to do...ignore the ceiling...burn the house down and quite your job.
Super Congress/Committee is nothing but a DICTATORSHIP!! Get a clue folks..NWO
Who's going to file the lawsuit to determine it's constitutionality?
Supprisingly, there is a uniquely appropriate saying that Americans use, "Go out and make some money!" no where else in the world do they understand that wealth isn't finite but can be created.
It's no wonder that over 75 percent of the American people feel that the members of this congress do not deserve to be re-elected. This is without a doubt the worst congress that I can ever remember. Not only have they not accomplished anything, but the things they have done, have made things worse for the American people.
........and THEY ARE OUT!! Incumbants...........you're OUT!
It is just like every other facet in American society. We have dumbed down America for years and now it has reached congress.
Look at the last congress! They bailed out banks. BANKS! This is a do nothing congress. Best to do nothing when you have not got a clue.
The reason the House of Representatives is not producing bill to fix the mess is they already have the country where the Republicans want. We have low taxes, a crappy economy, which allows reduced worker wages, a down graded debt, massive cuts to the government, massive war spending, and we are about to cut even more government and government jobs.
See the Republicans have the country right were they want it, being flushed down the drain.
I just wish the President would step up and do what was right for this nation. The one and only way out of this recession/depression like economy, is to end Free Trade and balance the trade deficits with tariffs.
The next thing which must be done after that, is to End the Federal Reserves reign of free bank money. Give back the power of the printing press back to the American people. All newly printed money should be equally rebated to the US Citizens.
AnnieRich
........and THEY ARE OUT!! Incumbants...........you're OUT!
Really, that's what happened last time...you know...when we elected T-Baggers who immediately reversed their stand that jobs were the priority?
Forget about jobs, labor priced itself out of the market. American labor costs too much and is lousy to boot.
Explain to me how you have a Super Committee made up of the very people that put our country into jeopardy in the first place??? And they're going to do what??? Suuurre they are...............bring on 2012 before Washington and Obama destroy us beyond repair.
Super committee will do nothing. The trigger will be pulled and there will be massive cuts in Medicare and Defense. Then in Jan of 2013 the Bush tax cuts will expire. Now you will have the cuts in entitlements, defense and a revenue increase just like the Boyles/Simpson plan. Obama has then achieved his balance approach. He has out maneuvered the republicans and no one realizes it.
Those 12 people should put the name of every citizen in their district in a hat. Draw one name. Those 12 people should be the ones who meet. No worries about reelection, no special interest money, etc. We need a citizens debt commission brought about in some way without politics and elections. Otherwise, don't waste our time with this nonsense congress.
They also had a 'trigger' to Pay-as-You-Go and when it went off they simply voted to override it.
Annie, you spend a lot of time blaming Obama for everything. Are you some kind of bigot or something? I'm sure that if it was Bush, Jr. in office still, you would have nothing to blame on him, right? How can Obama do anything when the Republicants in Congress right now are following the McConnell mandate of making him a one term President? Have you forgotten when the great McConnell said that? I'm pretty sure you have since selective memory seems to be the norm on these forums lately.
A Super Committee? Business as usual. There's the story of the fox and the chicken coup. The fox, who guards the coup and who weighs 400 lbs. is being criticized by the chickens because so many chickens are going missing. He assures them he'll find the cause of the problem and fix it. He convenes a super-committee of other foxes who weigh as much as he does. The chickens are happy that something is finally being done and go back about their business. After much debate, deliberation and good eating, the committee produces a ten thousand page report blaming the weather, the high cost of chicken feed, the alignment of the planets and persistent sun spots. The chickens are assured these problems are only temporary however regrettable, and to be patient. In a few years all will be well... not for them of course but certainly for the foxes.
Kitty, and what did you do during the Bush years,oh by the way disagreeing with Obama's policies does not make you a bigot. You also seem to forget Obama had the house and senate not long a go, but why let facts get in the way of true partisanship.
And republicans very conveniently forget FILIBUSTERS. Get real wiee.... Way too much Fox news in your diet.
Give me a break, these are things never even brought up, other then excuses you good at anything else? House Senate , President you telling me that they can't pass legislation get real. BTW I'm still not a Republican.
Can you have a filibuster while holding a super majority? Why can't you tell the truth? Is it because you are ignorant?
Huh? Not sure what you're rambling on about, but to correct the misstatement: Yes! The GOP proved you CAN have a filibuster, no matter how many members you have. Some members are larger than others.
Explain to me how you have a Super Committee made up of the very people that put our country into jeopardy in the first place???
Because Annie...regardless of what was said after the budget vote, Obama got exactly what he wanted. A commitee and a blank check through the elections.
YOU DECIDE WHICH LOOKS LIKE WHAT WE ENDED UP WITH!
Here's what the GOP wanted:
GOP BUDGET CUT LIST
• Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies -$30M • Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy -$899M • Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability -$49M • Nuclear Energy -$169M • Fossil Energy Research -$31M • Clean Coal Technology -$18M • Strategic Petroleum Reserve -$15M • Energy Information Administration -$34M • Office of Science -$1.1B • Power Marketing Administrations -$52M • Department of Treasury -$268M • Internal Revenue Service -$593M • Treasury Forfeiture Fund -$338M • GSA Federal Buildings Fund -$1.7B • ONDCP -$69M • International Trade Administration -$93M • Economic Development Assistance -$16M • Minority Business Development Agency -$2M • National Institute of Standards and Technology -$186M • NOAA -$336M • National Drug Intelligence Center -$11M • Law Enforcement Wireless Communications -$52M • US Marshals Service -$10M • FBI -$74M • State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance -$256M • Juvenile Justice -$2.3M • COPS -$600M • NASA -$379M • NSF -$139M • Legal Services Corporation -$75M • EPA -$1.6B • Food Safety and Inspection Services -$53M • Farm Service Agency -$201M • Agriculture Research -$246M • Natural Resource Conservation Service -$46M • Rural Development Programs -$237M • WIC -$758M • International Food Aid grants -$544M • FDA -$220M • Land and Water Conservation Fund -$348M • National Archives and Record Service -$20M • DOE Loan Guarantee Authority -$1.4B • EPA ENERGY STAR -$7.4M • EPA GHG Reporting Registry -$9M • USGS -$27M • EPA Cap and Trade Technical Assistance -$5M • EPA State and Local Air Quality Management -$25M • Fish and Wildlife Service -$72M • Smithsonian -$7.3M • National Park Service -$51M • Clean Water State Revolving Fund -$700M • Drinking Water State Revolving Fund -$250M • EPA Brownfields -$48M • Forest Service -$38M • National Endowment for the Arts -$6M • National Endowment for the Humanities -$6M • Job Training Programs -$2B • Community Health Centers -$1.3B • Maternal and Child Health Block Grants -$210M • Family Planning -$327M • Poison Control Centers -$27M • CDC -$755M • NIH -$1B • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services -$96M • LIHEAP Contingency fund -$400M • Community Services Block Grant -$405M • High Speed Rail -$1B • FAA Next Gen -$234M • Amtrak -$224M • HUD Community Development Fund -$530M
Here's what Obama wanted:
The (Obama) cuts include $1.2 trillion from across a range of hundreds of government programs and $1 trillion in savings assumed to derive from the end of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The legislation also assumes creation of a special joint congressional committee to recommend additional savings with a guaranteed vote by Congress by the end of 2011.
http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=AP&date=20110725&id=13990027
More Obama smoke and mirrors....amost 1/2 the "cut" is an IOU for future withdrawal from Afghanistan & Iraq!!! What a farce....he couldn't even KEEP that promise unless he were re-elected.
The man is a complete joke.
The Dems GOT his program but are hedging their bets by now pinning it on the GOP. Typical pathetic Liberal tactics employed simply to hold on to reckless entitlement spending!
The same super dooper bunch of clowns that got us in this mess are now going to go behind closed doors, work out another whopper that "you've got to pass to find out what's really in it" and the country is supposed to just sit and take it?
RONTFLMAO.
We all know the only thing on the table for the dems is the defense budget. Let them gut it. Then, when Syria blows up next year hang the carcass of that dead and smelling albatross around Obama's neck and just watch independents and moderates drop him like a bad habit in november.
"When Syria blows up, next year"?? How will you know when it blew up? Thanks BTW, for not including yourself in the "independents and moderates" category! Not that it wasn't obvious enough.
The business and financial sectors had recovered reasonably well. The real economy has never recovered. Now it looks like the entire economy is racing to the bottom.
At a GDP of 1.5%, the economcy is growing less than the population. Not a good sign.
The Fed's money-printing and the government's borrowing created the Dot-Com bubble which burst in 2000-2001.
Instead of letting the economy recover with a necessary recession the Fed started printing even more money and the Bush administration increased the borrowing. This created an even worse bubble in the mortgage markets which burst in 2008 with even greater economic harm.
Instead of letting the economy re-balance and recover from this the Obama administration put the pedal to the metal, printing and borrowing at an unprecedented rate. This has now created a massive bubble in the bond markets. The bond markets lie at the foundation of the economy, and when they blow probably sometime next year it will be a disaster without precedent in financial history.
This isn't about a good economy. It's about political maneuvering, re-elections and party power politics. Both parties share the blame for this, and neither will fix it. It's up to our creditors to fix it now, and they will.
Yes inflation has led to the current economy. Inflation has created the disparity in how debt and wealth is distributed in the economy. The wealth at the bottom of the economy was replaced with debt - the wealth moved up in the economy. That is what money does under capitalism - move UP in the economy.
Deflation is the natural economic remedy for wealth disparity - by destroying the wealth created through inflation. All private debt would essentially become worthless - because the payments cannot be made - those private debts would default. Banking would collapse and the wealth created through inflation would be eliminated from the economy. The disparity in wealth distribution would be much smaller after true deflation. The 'rich' would become poorer and the 'poor' would become richer by eliminating private debt.
Since we now operate in a global economy - the deflation would be global, too. Since there is more private debt in the United States - eliminating that debt would make 'rich' poorer and the 'poor' richer in the global econonomy, too.
Basically the 'poor' would gain much more power and the 'rich' would lose much more power both in the US and globally.
The Democratic nominees for this panel are (sadly) some of the most partisan in Washington, GL getting anything bipartisan passed.
Well...thank heavens you can't say that about the Republicans! Ha ha ha ha! Did you notice how much was accomplished when whimpy liberal Dems (like the guy in the White House) were in charge of "negotiations"?? There weren't any -- they (and the American nation) got taken to the cleaners. Those of us who care about the American democracy must start replacing liberals with populists!
I think most people , except our Government, realize 3 things must be done.
1. Dramatic, and I mean dramatic spending cuts must be made.
2. The deficit must be completly erased.
3. Taxes must be reduced to foster jobs.
None of this will ever happen with a congress that is more intrested in keeping their jobs than they are in doing what is right for America. I aslo believe we have a duty as Americans to quit trying to keep all of the things that "we " want but expect drastic cuts in things that don't effect us. i.e., social security, medciaire, defense, edcuation, etc. If we don't do something and do it quickly we risk the chance of being a bankrupt nation.
Yeah, cut back spending, investment, infrastructure and meanwhile jobs continue to ...

You can't give people money and expect them to do the "right thing" with it. That whole "tax cuts creats jobs" B.S. has been circulating since Regan. The FAA went throug a two week period where they had no federal taxes to pay. So I ask you, did they expand?, save the money for R&D, cut fares, hire?? NO to all of those actions that would support your Regan economic modle, they moved the money to the profit column so the CEO's bonus is higher this year. That and 20 years of low or no corporate taxes is why we are where we are. I'm not talking about the 35% on paper that Ellens Flower Shop pays, I'm talking about GE 2%, (best lawyers around), Carnival Cruise Lines 0% (incorporated in Panama), and the best Halliburton, who makes money by putting our sons and daughters in harms way (TAX REBATE). The Regan Presidential library is looking for a new janitor, I suggest you send in a application or start really looking at who creates growth. Its companies that are avoiding taxes by reinvesting profit. If they can hide profit, no incentive to grow. We are not talking about CEO's like Henry Ford, we are talking about two year CEO's only interested in their severance package, which is based on proffit alone.
The jury is out on the tax cut. Perhaps raising them for 2-3 years or until the budget is balanced is in order. This serious problem needs serious solutions. And no, I am not generally in favor of increased taxes.
National sales tax works for me, as long as it is a permantely FIXED rate tied up so tight the bastahds will never be able to raise it.
I'm sorry FDR, i really didn't know how tough you really had it back in the 1930's. I guess now I will.
As soon as congress announced this "Super Committee" I saw through their plan.
They'll let the committee make it's reccomendations, then bicker and squabble posturing for the election and wind up doing nothing so the automatic cuts kick in. Then they can all say,"Not me! I didn't do it.", then keep on campaigning. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid I'm not.
Soldier's Dad........ You hit the nail on the head...... This "stupid committee", is just another political trick....
And even worse, like in the past when they've enacted 'automatic cuts' they ignore them.
Republicans ruined this country and it all started with Bush who lied to start the war in Iraq, and America let him get away with it, and also let him give the rich tax breaks. This country is corrupt and every one knows it. these politicians lie all the time. They don't care about America or the American people. The republicans only worry about next year's elections and we hope the republicans don't get in office because they are only for the rich and the hell with the rest of us.
oh get off it................Blame Bush...OBAMA OWNS THIS ECONOMY! The spending spike began in 2007 exactly when the DEMOCRATS took control of Congress. So stop with your "Blame Game". We're gonna' clean house in 2012 INCLUDING OBAMA!
There she is again. The QUEEN BIGOT and her blame Obama campaign. Drink some more TEA, Annie!
Every stinking one of them is doing nothing but campaigning, not just republicans. Don't you understand ? They don't have time to do anything about the country, there's an election coming up in a little over a year and that MUST take top priority.
arizonaron, Bush couldn't have gone to war without the house and senate, running up the debt has been going on a lot longer then Bush and no one seems interested in bringing it down
Kitty do you know the definition of bigot? I've yet to see some comment on the person so stop your slanderous attacks.
2%rich and 98%poor. i have worked very hard to get were I am today. I pay my taxes and this is what I get back. my Family is next in line for the street. Thank You BUSH and BUSH JR.
Clarify; Bush has been gone for 3 YEARS. And before that Pelosi and Reid started their spending spree in 2007. Then the damn Dems had a filabuster proof Congress for 2 more years and what did they do? Budget? NO....Economic Plan? no........they shoved Obamacare up our butts. So quit with this @!$%#! No one is buying the crap and the point now is to get rid of ALL the incumbants from BOTH parties. Get people in their FOR THE PEOPLE! But especially OBAMA! He's the biggest enemy we've got for our People.
Frank.... I feel your pain.............. Lets raise your taxes, to get you there sooner..........
cut 15% across the board including salaries over one hundred thousand dollars per year, and then look for bipartisan ways to reduce the deficit, let the automatic cuts start now!!!
all government workers should get SS & medicare when they retire like the rest of the country does, with the money they earn they should have 401 k investments in place to not even need SS !!!
I agree Bush is a real bafoon, but what EXACTLY has the current bafoon done to help you or any of us on main street? How long will you happily go on blaming the last idiot before asking the current one to take the helm and stop wasting time of irrelevant issues like ObamaCare and focus on the real issue of a floundering economy?
Frank, it's stupid to whine and have so much self pity. And it is also stupid to blame past Presidents on your troubles. What shape were you in when obama took office? What shape are you in today? Now which President is to blame for your troubles again?
The crashing US AND WORLD ECONOMIES that President Obama had to deal with when he took office was not a problem that could be solve in two years or three, the housing collapse, the bank collapse the losing 750,000 jobs per month in his first month etc.etc.etc. now almost three years later none of the leaders has any plans ! what were they doing all this time?
They are working against anything Obama tries to do then sit back and heckle him for not being able to over come their resistance and blame it all on him!!!
I say they have a responsibility to do their part, instead of sitting back and doing nothing!!!
Then everyone of them claim that if they are elected they will turn everything around; BS If they have answers spit them out a year ago what are they waiting for?
Frank, I got news for you: Presidents do not work for you. They are elected to give you the illusion that you have choice. They all work for the rich.
That aside, none of them can fix our problems within this monetary system. Debt based monetary system is flawed and the only fix is a revolution to switch to Debt Free Monetary System.
www.kondratieffwavecycle.com/web-of-debt/
Yeah Frank blame everyone but yourself real good example for your kids.
Annie, if you don't know who the enemy is how are you going to organize your fight. The congress is the only ones that can do the things that need to be done. Obama didn't do any of those things you say he did. He may be fun to blame but he isn't responsible.
I didn't vote for the idiot or any of the other idiots serving in Washington today so my criticism isn't partisan at all. I think both parties are Scoundrels and Thieves, and I don't think Republicans will do any better than Democrats.
2%rich and 98%poor. i have worked very hard to get were I am today. I pay my taxes and this is what I get back. my Family is next in line for the street. Thank You BUSH and BUSH JR.
Ummm, Frank - ya better put away the valium. Our leader has been Obama for 3 years now.
Frank Wallace...
I understand what you're trying to say, and, yes, you're right. It doesn't matter if you put your faith and trust in this government and worked hard all your life. The top 5%/10% of this population doesn't give a rats ass. They take what you have, and give nothing in return.
Everybody on the street gets what has to be done, and yet our elected officals have no clue at all, they think by giving the tax breaks and not charging new taxes will fix the problem-all they have to do is close these so called loop holes er but no, big business is saying no-just who is running this country washington or business.
Well it depends on what you want. Do you want business HERE to stay HERE and hire HERE or do you want Obama to keep on spreading-the wealth??? Of course Business built the country; Business kept us growing; Business provided jobs...but what the hell. Obama has made sure with his department 'governance' that business has been squelched, stopped, regulated, slammed as much as possible. So you go for your damn Socialist crap and years from now down the road get up and put your government uniform on and report to your damn government job!
thedoctor...........Your a doctor alright......DO You want TO PAY MORE, IN NEW TAXES??????????? Really ??????????
Hey, Annie! I'm glad I can't see you in person cause if I could, there would be a good old fashioned cat fight. You're a bigot! Obama had nothing to do with the state of this country's affairs. Blame your Party of No and their TEA Brat spawn for creating the mess. Quit using selective memory, woman! McConnell said his job was to make sure his Republicans made Obama a one term President. Gee, that spells racism to me! If Obama was white, this wouldn't happen and don't tell me race has nothing to do with it. Republicans are afraid of Obama. Afraid he WILL turn things around which is exactly what they don't want and that is why they use scare tactics to make fools like you, Annie, follow them.
If the President was White, his name would be Jimmy Carter......
Ghost: your stupid one line spews to turn the country against the President is just that stupid one liners that have no validity!!!
Dale.... I'm sorry, but do I really have to write a novel, to get MY point across ??????????????????????????????????????????????? Your PRESIDENT SUCKS................... PERIOD....... END OF STORY.........
Actually GHOST, if Obama was white then the president would be named Hillary Clinton. The only bigots are the idiots who chose to vote for someone who was clearly in over his head simply because of the color of his skin. I bet Dr. King would sure be proud.
Hello The President is white and black, if I remember correctly it was the blacks who said he wasn't black enough, so Kitty knock off the bigot crap that's the standard party line BS
We really need for our President to understand how business, economics and psychology are all related. He should also understand that if you consistently put the screws to businesses, it is the employees that end up suffering. This administration has done nothing to create a climate in which businesses can succeed, and hire more workers. Companies will not hire until their growth in sales demands it. And there will probably be little or no growth, as long as businesses perceive that the government is against them. Wake up Barack...get someone in your administration who has actually had a job, and understands how the real world works.....you, sure as hell don't.
The no compromise stance of the Tea Party is not helping. Some say the Dems were bluffing when they agreed to some entitlement reform and the 25% corporate rate combined with loop holes. What I want to know is why the Reps didn't call him on it. Instead, it just looks to me like the Reps are unwilling to do what is right for this nation because of hard headed principles.
And, what does small government mean anyway? Does that mean a government that spends less or one that doesn't have the power to protect the people of this nation from multinational corporate power? Why are we fighting for a government that has no power. Why keep those subsidies to big oil and big agriculture. We will see the result when our air become more filthy, or land more ruined, and our food more poisonous.
The government is for the people. I know people make business, but your business should not be allowed to unfairly keep my business from growing, pollute the air I breath, or fill the food my kids eat with dangerous chemicals.
"hard headed principles"? Smaller government? Power to Protect the People? but your business should not be allowed to unfairly keep my business from growing, pollute the air I breath, or fill the food my kids eat with dangerous chemicals.........let me guess, you're young, believe everything the EPA does is good and that all the big businesses are bad. Right? Let me ask you. Do you like Government in every aspect of your life? Are you allowed to pack your child's lunch? Do you have a chip on your garbage can to monitor your recycling? Do you now have a Smart Meter for electric? Are you going to enjoy your energy costs tripling so you are forced to buy an electric car? You are giving up LIBERTIES! Do you not understand that the Obama Regime is "Ruling" and NOT Governing??? Big difference!
LIZ............ DO you want the GOV'T IN YOUR BEDROOM ALSO??????????? DO YOU WANT THEM TO TURN OFF YOUR LIGHTS FOR YOU, When you go to sleep?????????? DO you want them to wipe your ass, when you take a sh#t????????? Do you want them to blow your nose ??????? DO YOU WANT THEM TO TELL YOU WHAT TO EAT ??????? I DON'T.........
In the respect of the government taking more control of our everyday lives Annie is dead on, and it started a long time ago. First example, when I got my first SS card in the early 60's, I believe you had to have one to go to school, under the number it had in red letters "Not To Be Used For Identification". Twenty or so years later I had to get my card replaced because it became unreadable. The new card no longer has thosed red letters, it IS you identification.
Not only that, but now if you have a baby you have to apply for a SS# for it at the same time you fill out the birth certificate. So now your SS# has become your cradle to grave tracking number. Someone can put in your SS# and see your entire life. Now exactly what business is it of the government where you live, what cars you own, how much you make, what you paid for your house, your credit history, when and to whom you were married and or divorced and on and on with everything assosciated with your tracking number.
It won't be long before some government clown comes up with the idea that to prevent babies from being switched at birth they should have an ID chip put under their skin, like they do with pets, to help identify them if they are kidnapped or found dead so the law can quickly identify them so parents don't have to spend days not knowing if the body they found is their child or not. If that ever happens in a few years everyone will have one and the government would be able to track your every move, just like they can right now with your cell phone.
I am a total independent as far as politics, but I do not trust that the federal government has my, or anybody elses best interest at heart. They are about control and the more control we allow them to have, the more they want. For they know that the time is growing near that things will biol over here just as they have in Egypt and other places around the world, and perhaps they should, those people got results because their ivory tower governments finally listened to them.
