I was sitting at Starbucks enjoying a Latte and searching the web when, for the life of me I dont know why, but I read this! I became so depressed and upset that I dropped my hot Latte in my lap.....

I think the whole driving to Jersey thing is just a small part of it, but is was seized upon by the author because it is more sensational then other parts of the story.

Driving to Jersey is part of his job, tough. But if it can be shown that there was a preference in the workplace for Jewish people, then that is cause for action and a suit. If only Jewish people get promoted, Jewish people are invited to after work events that promote their standing in the company and in the industry, then that is wrong.

Could you imagine if it was reversed? If a Christian owned the company, and only Christians were promoted, and only Christians were invited for after work events? There would be loud and clear claims of racism.

Much like a coworker the other day that said that his family (Vietnamese) did not want his sister to date a Caucasian guy, that she had to date a Vietnamese guy. In that case people excuse it and say that it is "cultural". But what if a Caucasian guy said that he did not want his sister dating an Asian guy? Would people just pass it off as a Caucasian "cultural" thing, or would they say it was racist for her family to want her to not date an Asian guy?

Reading this story was like watching an accident. I couldn't bare to look but I did anyway. :(

Shoot! I had to drive from Alabama to Georgia 5 days (and even 6 days on occasion) a week. These two states make New Jersey look like the fashion capitol of the world. Don't think I hav a case though, since others had to do it too. It's a shame that a complaint this pathetic can even be filed much as less argued.

Not much chance of getting a settlement for the New Jersey agony, unless he had a contract that specifically said he did not have to travel to various stores.

The claims of discrimination because of his background might gain a little traction, if he can show a pattern of the boss favoring employees with Jewish ethnicity. He will need documentation and witnesses that represent his work performance and evaluations as adequate or better (compared with the favorites.) In this type of work, performance is very subjective - in the eye of the beholder (boss.) The assignment of work (trips to Jersey) is totally controlled by management.

I once worked for a boss who was a Conservative Christian, I never got invited to any of his parties either, even though others in the office were.... might have had something to do with the fact that I am a Liberal Pagan and the ones invited were members of the same political party or religious affiliation. HMMMM wonder if I have a lawsuit here. But then again, he might counter sue me because I never invited him to parties either....

People need to grow up. We associate with others who have similar education, life style, religion, political, etc., opinions. His boss is Jewish, of course she is going to spend more time with Jews than she does with Christians. Unless he can prove that the ONLY reason he was required to travel to NJ was BECAUSE he was a Christian I don't see where he would have much of a complaint.

I lived in New Jersey for two years and drove through it many times. I always found the people cordial and halpful, which is more than I can say for the people in the State of New York City. Those in Upstate New York, on the other hand, are a different breed, ie, human.

And I've lived in New Jersey for almost 62 years.

It's fine for people to make Jersey Jokes and think all there is to our state is the Turnpike. We're the most densely poplulated state in the US and really don't need more people.

But mam is right. There are LOTS of beautiful places in NJ, and I bet most folks may not be aware that the largest area of wilderness between Boston and DC is in the southern part of the state!
