Really? Shouldn't he be thanking his lucky stars that he has a job to drive to in this economy? I could name hundreds of people that would gladly trade their situation for his in a heartbeat.
S, we would expect that ANYONE, even die-hard Christians, would gladly work say, on a Sunday if it meant keeping their jobs? Working on Xmas? Thanksgiving? It =does= happen all the time, just like a boss spending off time with employees of the same "faith" - doesn't make it right
I am going to sue him for making me depressed. I have never been to New Jersey, but now I just cannot bear the thought of the place. I am quite a stylish person and I now realize that I would be uncomfortable if I went there.
Hey, Class Action lawsuit on depression and I want in.......................what a really really sad story about a person who had to work in a location that they did not like..............I am about to stick my head in the oven............oh heck we don't have a gas oven.........NOW I am REALLY depressed!!!
I am so depressed now. MSNBC made me read this with their enticing lead-in line. Now where did I put my attorney's number? Oh gosh, I'm so depressed I cannot find my address book. I think all is this response need to consider a class action suit at least to pay for our therapy and antidepressants. Who's with me?
And I'm emotionally distressed that people like the plaintiff are using valuable oxygen and taking up planetary surface. Sign me up for the class action.
I was sitting at Starbucks enjoying a Latte and searching the web when, for the life of me I dont know why, but I read this! I became so depressed and upset that I dropped my hot Latte in my lap.....
I think the whole driving to Jersey thing is just a small part of it, but is was seized upon by the author because it is more sensational then other parts of the story.
Driving to Jersey is part of his job, tough. But if it can be shown that there was a preference in the workplace for Jewish people, then that is cause for action and a suit. If only Jewish people get promoted, Jewish people are invited to after work events that promote their standing in the company and in the industry, then that is wrong.
Could you imagine if it was reversed? If a Christian owned the company, and only Christians were promoted, and only Christians were invited for after work events? There would be loud and clear claims of racism.
Much like a coworker the other day that said that his family (Vietnamese) did not want his sister to date a Caucasian guy, that she had to date a Vietnamese guy. In that case people excuse it and say that it is "cultural". But what if a Caucasian guy said that he did not want his sister dating an Asian guy? Would people just pass it off as a Caucasian "cultural" thing, or would they say it was racist for her family to want her to not date an Asian guy?
Well, I for one am GLAD to have read this article, as now I know not to look to New Jersey for the latest fashion tips, & I will tell all my friends to do the same.
Seriously, now, doesn't this article make you feel maybe just a little bit better about yourself?
Shoot! I had to drive from Alabama to Georgia 5 days (and even 6 days on occasion) a week. These two states make New Jersey look like the fashion capitol of the world. Don't think I hav a case though, since others had to do it too. It's a shame that a complaint this pathetic can even be filed much as less argued.
They ought to charge him with wasting the courts time, frivolous lawsuits, he should be forced to go to jail and wear a stylish jumpsuit for a year. His lawyer should be disbarred and subsequently shot, In Time Square!
I would arbitrate this down to the lawyers of this clown paying a fine and leaving the state...........oh wait, I just read the comment about the lawyer getting disbarred and then shot...............much better solution than mine.
Not much chance of getting a settlement for the New Jersey agony, unless he had a contract that specifically said he did not have to travel to various stores.
The claims of discrimination because of his background might gain a little traction, if he can show a pattern of the boss favoring employees with Jewish ethnicity. He will need documentation and witnesses that represent his work performance and evaluations as adequate or better (compared with the favorites.) In this type of work, performance is very subjective - in the eye of the beholder (boss.) The assignment of work (trips to Jersey) is totally controlled by management.
I once worked for a boss who was a Conservative Christian, I never got invited to any of his parties either, even though others in the office were.... might have had something to do with the fact that I am a Liberal Pagan and the ones invited were members of the same political party or religious affiliation. HMMMM wonder if I have a lawsuit here. But then again, he might counter sue me because I never invited him to parties either....
People need to grow up. We associate with others who have similar education, life style, religion, political, etc., opinions. His boss is Jewish, of course she is going to spend more time with Jews than she does with Christians. Unless he can prove that the ONLY reason he was required to travel to NJ was BECAUSE he was a Christian I don't see where he would have much of a complaint.
Give me a break; sounds like a pretty interesting job to me and he's lucky to have the job. We ALL are taking on more & new responsibilities to keep our companies going and to STAY EMPLOYED. He has to be kidding...
Oh boo hoo...cue the depressing violin solo. While I may not be a fan of New Jersey (I'm a midwestern boy by heart and place) it's not the Third World. Even if it was, so what? That's why they call it a JOB! While it helps to like or at least tolerate the way you make a living, sometimes you have to make sacrifices or fulfill obligations. While some of the other arguments might have some merit (discrimination on promotions, for example), this just smacks of whining. If I were his (or her) boss, I would have fired him for insubordination. If the poor crybaby can't hack it in Hackensack, he can't hack it anywhere!
Nothing mean spirited meant, guys...just trying to add a little levity to a rediculous lawsuit...and btw, O'really...youse guys should sue the producers of Jersey Shore for defamation of character. Of course, it could have been worse...they could all be from California.
For crying out loud!!!!! What a wuss!!! The major problem is that this idiot has a lawyer and will probably get some type of monetary damages................Let's all do this. Get a lawyer and sue the company who gave you the job in the first place, because we have to drive to a different part of town that doesn't reflect the lifestyle that we're accustomed to. Sounds like a plan to me! A sorry plan.............but throw in a lawyer or two......and who knows. What a joke!!!
I hope the stylist wins his claim, and is awarded two million dollars. It's about time everyone knew how horrible New Jersey really is. The state itself could almost be driven through if it weren't for the awful people who live there, with their unintelligible accents and rude manners. A chemical waste dumping ground, the whole state stinks; the air and water is polluted, and the people are so addle brained that half of them think they are dons of organized crime. New Jersey does have one positive point; it would be a wonderful place to test the effectiveness and explosive power of thermo-nuclear weapons.
"New Jersey does have one positive point; it would be a wonderful place to test the effectiveness and explosive power of thermo-nuclear weapons."
At the risk of troll-feeding, I'll just say that I'm sure the people who live in Jersey think it has one more very positive point -- they don't have to put up with @Stamets living there.
As for the twit with the lawsuit, I found him in the dictionary under "pretentious," "pompous," and "gradiose" -- each of those entries said "See also Horodecki, Thomas." Can't wait for his co-workers' suit against the company for their distress in having to work with this one-man case for tort reform. He'd probably demand hazardous duty pay and an armored car if he had to go to Queens. I really hope Tahari doesn't have to pay this idiot anything, even though at this point, they'd probably pay to get rid of him.
And in a related note, the State of New York filed suit against the U. S. Government, claiming that its cross-river neighbor not only should not be considered a 'state' at the same level as itself, but also has significantly depressed property values in the region as well as made a mockery of the word 'New.' The states of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware and Maryland have all filed amicus briefs supporting the New York position. In response, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said, "Is it just me, or do you smell something funny too?"
Absolutely! You will get exactly as much money as you deserve*.
Just sign here and pay the filing fee, and we're set.

(fine print)
*What you deserve will be determined by the courts, not by what you think you deserve. More than likely you deserve nothing, but I still get my fee, ha ha.
Anyone who is dissing on NJ obviously hasn't been here. As with any state there are less than perfect areas, but I'll take our state with the beautiful beaches, mountains, lakes and every activity and store within an hour's drive or less. The only people with "Joisy" accents that I know came from another state (figure out which one!). That goes for the rude behavior, I'll bet those people are not native to NJ. I have visited a lot of states, and have yet to find one that I would entice me to leave. But since we have more than enough people here already, those of you who don't think well of NJ, keep believing the stuff you see on TV and the movies,we don't need you and it is your loss and our last laugh.
There are mountains in New Jersey? Aren't you thinking of the twelve-story building in downtown Newark?
I lived in New Jersey for two years and drove through it many times. I always found the people cordial and halpful, which is more than I can say for the people in the State of New York City. Those in Upstate New York, on the other hand, are a different breed, ie, human.
It's fine for people to make Jersey Jokes and think all there is to our state is the Turnpike. We're the most densely poplulated state in the US and really don't need more people.
But mam is right. There are LOTS of beautiful places in NJ, and I bet most folks may not be aware that the largest area of wilderness between Boston and DC is in the southern part of the state!
No, Massachusetts is the Bay State. There are no bays in New Jersey.
I suggest that his employer open a store in Sendai and send him there on a five-year inspection tour. Benghazi, on the other hand, is another possibility.
There are 9 bays in New Jersey, but it is not the Bay State, it is the Garden State. You really ought to get off the Turnpike and see what New Jersey has to offer.
That's OK, o'really. Let him have his prejudices and let him stay where he is.
We know that NJ is really a pretty good place to live (if you don't count the current governor and his shenanigans); and though we can be quite neighborly, we actually don't need more people here -- especially more people who make 'gay jokes' and think they're funny.
This butt-head needs to go to jail. First, for filing such a frivolous lawsuit, second, for making the basis of this out to be race. his lawyer disciplined by the NY State Bar.
If you don't like the job, find another one! Don't waste hard-working people's money with this sort of crap. Perhaps you should think about how fortunate you are to HAVE a job. Or would you rather be in my shoes with NO job and the prospect of losing my home looming ominously over me every day? I would happily trade places with you...call me! What a selfish, self-effacing ass you are!
No need to wonder why companies choose to locate in other countries. Why start a business here and face this kind of nonsense. The best thing the judget could do in this case is fine the attorney for the idiot bringing the case $100,000 for incompetence in filing the case. That would quickly free up the court system of all these idiot cases.
Gosh, New Jersey isn't that depressing. Okay, so Snooki hasn't helped NJs image, but gee, there is the Shore, Princeton University, Atlantic City and Metuchen (which is a great small town). We lived near Philly for 10 years and NJ was one of our favorite day trips.
Sounds like the guy was a whacko and a cry baby to begin with. It isn't fair to compare NYC and NJ. Both have a lot, but they're different.
Really? Shouldn't he be thanking his lucky stars that he has a job to drive to in this economy? I could name hundreds of people that would gladly trade their situation for his in a heartbeat.
no they aren't posting this story to foment working class infighting. now are they?
It's even in the business section and y'all are still taking it way too seriously.
S, we would expect that ANYONE, even die-hard Christians, would gladly work say, on a Sunday if it meant keeping their jobs? Working on Xmas? Thanksgiving? It =does= happen all the time, just like a boss spending off time with employees of the same "faith" - doesn't make it right
WHY did I read this? I should have known better, but I read it anyway . . .
Yeah I know the feeling , I slapped myself, twice, but still ended up reading it.
I am going to sue him for making me depressed. I have never been to New Jersey, but now I just cannot bear the thought of the place. I am quite a stylish person and I now realize that I would be uncomfortable if I went there.
Me too. Why oh why?

I also got suckered into reading this article - dumb me.
Me too!
It's like driving by a multi-car wreck. You know you shouldn't look but you just can't help it.

Class action on being forced to read this drivel -- me too! I'm in. Let's SUE!
I was sitting at Starbucks enjoying a Latte and searching the web when, for the life of me I dont know why, but I read this! I became so depressed and upset that I dropped my hot Latte in my lap.....

Reading this story was like watching an accident. I couldn't bare to look but I did anyway. :(
Because you had to read it.
Well, I for one am GLAD to have read this article, as now I know not to look to New Jersey for the latest fashion tips, & I will tell all my friends to do the same.

You summed it up perfectly.
Shoot! I had to drive from Alabama to Georgia 5 days (and even 6 days on occasion) a week. These two states make New Jersey look like the fashion capitol of the world. When someone can go to a Lawyer or the Gov to make a case on this, why is Union even necessary.
Should read to see our stupid laws and justice system protect - workers?
How many people work here?
We employ 50 but only 25 work.
Oh, no! A Polish plaintiff and an Italian attorney...this is an ethnic joke looking for a place to happen. Sorry, I just couldn't pass that up.
As a half Polish, half Italian Jersey resident, go ahead and hit me with your best shot. I've heard them all.
New Jersey would be a much better place if all the New Yorkers stayed out, and that includes the Jersey Shore cast.
Don't forget the elitist Manhattan Jew that treats non-Jews like 2nd-class citizens... there is ripe potential for that to be in the joke as well.
Nothing mean spirited meant, guys...just trying to add a little levity to a rediculous lawsuit...and btw, O'really...youse guys should sue the producers of Jersey Shore for defamation of character. Of course, it could have been worse...they could all be from California.

Baiting........ baiting......... baiting. C'mon whose gonna be the first fish to bite?
New Jersey DOES have one positive point... Bon Jovi!!!
So true.
All you New Yorkers who keep moving into Jersey listen to Stamets.
It's a terrible place. Don't ever go there.
When I was a kid growing up in NY we referred to NJ as the A$$hole of the Earth.
That's right and every time it took a dump it was flushed right into NY the sh**hole of the north.
Ned-1670205: Sounds like Sewer Karma.
PJ, apparently you've never been to Eloy AZ. I spent a week there one day.
"New Jersey does have one positive point; it would be a wonderful place to test the effectiveness and explosive power of thermo-nuclear weapons."

Another loyal jersey citizen heard from (Starnetz), as well as a few New Yorkers who have, of course, no bias.
Lizzie, my dictionary doesn't have a word "gradiose." Other than that, your post is right on the mark
Does your dictionary have an entry for, "typo?"

What a stupid clown. Is this what our legal system is for? Simple answer--Quit. This is not about New Jersey it's about idiots.
Another fashion fairy's hissy-fit.
OH BROTHER !!!!!
perhaps he should be unemployed and homeless-------in NJ or better still perhaps we could deport him----to Juarez the gov makes mistakes all the time
welcome to America where if at first you don't succed ....sue
My wife has me take out the garbage it disgusting and smells and I hate to do it

Put this clown in jail, there must be something to charge, malicious whatever, frivolous something, court costs....
Or, alternatively, just line up a jury and give them one open-handed whack to the face each.
Besides, doesn't he know that Jersey is the Gay State? Oops, that's Bay State, isn't it... never mind.

Can I sue someone because I was born in New Jersey and had to grow up there?
Absolutely! The defendant will be your mother.
Just sign here, pay the filing fee, and we're set!
If there is any justice in the world, yes.
