With every country, every economy, every business so intertwined. Everyone must carry thier own weight. i dont like taxes as much as the next person, but they are important to every civilized society. we will never get away from them that being said you are gonna have to pay. the first thing that needs to change is "for the people by the people". political work should NEVER have become a career. it was meant to be a post designed to give back to the community and be the voice of the community. quite frankly it has been made a career by a bunch of ra-tards (all parties republicans, dems, and every other party). further more... that wont change until you get rid of the lobbyists. the people who pay big bucks to politicians. it is all greed. greed in washington. greed on wall street. the little guy always gets hurt. a new law should be imposed that all congressmen and senators may only serve 1-2 terms. if the president can only serve 2 terms. that should be imposed for everyone. i personally think we should worry about our own government before we get our hands red in someone elses government. ours is far from perfect. if the greeks want to suffer more let them. cause i cant tell if this move will hurt or help them... only time will tell.
not everyone will agree with me but... i dont care.
There goes the Euro. Nothing like making things worse as a whole. Put the first few people in Prison and the rest will pay when they lose their houses and possessions.
Next stop all social services. Don't pay Gov. workers and close the system down.
It seems that alot of people around the world are getting tired of corrupt government and of the government wasting the taxpayers hard earned money. There is so much corruption and waste in govt. the govt in this country takes from hard working people and gives the money to people who want a handout and dont earn it. Now it seems so often like people who dont work or work very little, have more spending power than those who work many hours. Free healthcare, free college and living expenses, free food, free fuel, free hot lunc hes, rental assistance, free daycare, huge tax credits. The list goes on and on. you add all these handouts together, and it is a lot of money.
no lynseypug, you are mistaken. The liberals want bigger and bigger government. Which means taking more and more money from the people who work. Which means more and more of a nanny state. Government does NOT create wealth. Or jobs.
And the Pubs want to waste more and more of our money on foreign wars and propping-up two-bit dictators, wildly enriching themselves and their defense-contractor, oil-industry, and health insurance buddies in the process, while the rest of America twists in the wind. That policy is what the majority of America is tired of. You conservatives always seem to want a very restrictive view of America, with lots of us excluded. I make close to 6 figures and I will gladly donate a part of my income to see that those less fortunate are not totally excluded from the American dream. I for one feel that we need our government to reign-in those of us who want to steal as much as they can steal from the rest of us and to ensure basic rights and freedoms for all of us, not just an exalted few.
I've got an idea: Why don't you Pubs see if you can get away with not paying your taxes here in honor of the Greek protesters, see where that gets you???
To the people of Greece, "Fight the power!" I wish them the best of luck in bucking the system. Crush your government, and start anew. They really need to follow in the footsteps of Egypt, and topple the government. The government there wants to squeeze more and more out of the people, so they need to take action and avoid it as much as possible till the government beast is dead.
Richard, you must not keep up with world politics, just DNC talking points. Greece is an elected government. The people elected their leaders with free and open elections. Egypt was a corrupt and tainted election process. It was basically one person rule. So, when you talk about Greece crushing the government, the government that the people of Greece elected, you sound foolish beyond belief.
I disagree. If we here in this country elect people and they turn out to be piles of garbage, we too should protest and remove them from power before the next round of elections. Thats all I'm saying Greece should do. Their democratically elected rulers obviously have no clue what they people there elected them to do, and therefore should be removed from power. However, I do not agree with what the Greeks feel their government should be doing for them. I just feel that if they feel the government isn't doing the will of the people, then the government needs to be crushed. Government officials should be in constant fear of loosing their jobs at any moment if they go against the will of the people.
At least the Greeks are coming clean about their desire to get something for nothing. The protesters in Wisconsin claim to be doing their jobs out of the goodness of their heart - altruism. Give me a break.
We help Americans find jobs and prosperity in Asia. Visit for details.
then the gov't should just stop paying social services and stop paving roads, and let it all catch up. then, down the line, when the citizens complain that there are no police, roads, welfare, the accountancy in gov't can say, we ran out of money b/c you didnt pay in, and your friend the construction worker wanted more than we had, so the job wasnt done.
how is it that the left leaning world as a whole doesnt comprehend the simple laws of accounting and finance? you cannot spend what you dont take it.
I think you are missing the point. It's not that they don't want to pay, it's that they don't want to give their money to a corrupt system that will squander their money.
good call VictoriaJane and Loftus - seems people don't understand that. We have it so easy here in the USA people realistically think a state of anarchy would be OK as long as it takes down corporations in the process. You will never be able to have a logical, coherent or rational conversation with folks who think like that. Great posts though so thank you for that.
You just answered your own question. Accounting takes in debits, and deposits. If no deposits are made, than a deficit, bounced checks- stealing from someone, occurs. Wake up! Don't you think the government's mistakes have cost us enough? Or is that also not evident in your perceptive intelligence? I have to wonder. Get out there and really research what you think you know from an illusionary viewpoint given to you by the media. Most of us are digging alot deeper, it is a suggestion. Ignorance as I stated below is bliss, but only for soo lonngggg!
Wright One? Did you not see or understnd why this movement has started as the Greek bar owner said when those at the top don't pay and set a bad example by theft corruption, and nepotism don't expect compliance by those that have been paying for years and supporting these free loaders at the top.
It's not the one's at the top who's children usually die in wars, it wasn't the one's paying social security for years only to see a broken system, paying taxes for years for the ruined roads, and then pay more for highway tolls for
tollways that the bonds have been paid back. The list goes on and on and on...stop blaming the people on who's back these leeches feed.. And this just pertains to the USA..the greek people are again showing the way to freedom, support them.
The fact is that corruption is pervasive in Greece and they are reaping what they themselves have soon, including the common Greek. To those who would cheer these actions, they must consider that this cannot continue, that those debts have to be paid. If they don't then they will truly get anarchy, not something the tea party or most libertarians want despite some of the ill-informed comments that have been made. It is really quite simple, Greece is broke, they need to pay their debts or their situation will only get worse. If these debts are not paid, corruption curbed, and unsustainable social programs reduced or cut, they will have financial Armageddon. The Greek people are not showing us the way to freedom, they are burying their heads in the sand to the situation they are in. It is sad because this only ensures that their situation will get worse. Do we honestly think these services, even vital ones, will continue if they don't have any funds? They have already essentially defaulted on their debt load as it is. Everything the government has 'given' you is conditional, it can be taken away, it is not a right despite what so many would like to believe. You have the right to freedom of speech, assembly, religion, association, and to keep the fruit for your labor. Other than that you are on your own, and to pretend otherwise only sets you up in a position to be exploited and abused by your so called 'benefactors'.
wow alot of words here, what i read here is-in the 70s we decided it was a good idea to ship our jobs to asia.well ,we are america we must be right.other countries followed suit,we thought working for a lower wage was a good idea so we called the unions commies to make em look bad.we used our s.s. money to keep the offices of big corporations here so they could call themselfs american companys, even though all the real jobs were shiped to china(commies)mexicio, canada.now we argue about the scrapes, soon all these management and financial jobs well disapper and they well be looking at the poor and underpriveliged for support.
Loftus. The tea party is part of the problem. They are a front for billionaires who want less regulations so their corporations can dump more pollution with out consequences, and less corporate taxes so the working family have to pick up the difference. They are aptly named "The Enemies of American" party willing do sell the country out to corporations.
Minan59, that is BS. The liberals are looking for free handouts from the government. Like it or not, these companies pay people to work and not be a burden on the rest of us who work. Frankly, I'm tired of 2/3 of my check going to people who don't want to work. They are better off than me and my family, and that is BS.
Loftus said, "And I wonder..... How is that different from here and the Tea party movement?"
Since when did the Tea Party advocate not obeying the law?
Answer: They never did.
Look around for people who want others to take care of them and ask which party they belong to. After you do that, then you may want to reconsider your opinion.
So, destroy our system of health care in order that some among us won't have to pay into it, (until they need it)? Can you buy auto insurance only after you need it? This question comes down to a terribly divided America, where a large percentage of us have enjoyed employer-paid health-care benefits for several generations now, while others among us have never had such benefits, and their employers are completely opposed to joining the majority of employers who provide a benefit that many of us take for granted. What year did the Rocky Mountain Fuel Co start providing their employees health care coverage? 1929, and they were not the first employer in America to do so either. And rather than join RMFC in providing health-care coverage to their workers, the Rockefeller-owned Colorado Fuel and Iron Co spent the next 18 years trying to destabilize RMFC instead, eventually succeeding in 1947. Is that the kind of America that you want to go back to, one where billionaires compete to see who among themselves can get away with as much as possible when it comes to treatment of their workforce and their host communities?
I've heard plenty of stories where someone without health insurance coverage comes to a big public hospital with a huge problem, and out of the goodness of their heart (and the rule of law) the big hospital provides their care then spreads the cost of doing so among everyone who has health insurance coverage, thereby driving up health insurance costs. Would it be right for these public hospitals to just turn-away people who do not have coverage? I've also heard plenty of sorry stories where someone without health care coverage was driven into bankruptcy, and still more where an insurance company dropped someone who was facing an expensive medical procedure. Why should those of us with health care insurance have to pay for those of us whose employers don't care what happens to them? Simple logic escapes some among us who can't see further than the tip of their own noses!!!
Whether it's lawlessness or corruption, whether it starts from the top (government leaders) or the bottom (the public), the solution is for the leaders of Greece to stop it by leading, i.e., by visibly setting the example for the public to follow.
The same applies to the U.S. as well. Get rid of influence peddling and conflict of interest by, for example, getting rid of campaign contributions, anonymous corporate and special-interest-group paid ads, redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthy, as well as a myriad of other bad examples of leadership.
This should be happening in the U.S. We have a dictator too. Our dictator is the large corporations in banking, insurance, health care, agriculture, energy and the military industrial complex. They are killing off the middle class and until they are overthrown we won't be free.
Why don't you go live in a trailer down by the river. Then maybe you won't have to put up with "large corporations in banking, insurance, health care, agriculture, energy and the military industrial complex".
we pointed the finger at the russians for decades so we could spend trillions of $ on an imaginary enemy.with never a shot fired.we fought the chinese in korea, and nam, with thousands of american deaths.all this time kissing their rears and now we have given them most our jobs!!bernie, been living under a rock?
so how do you propose to 'overthrow' the corporations and the military industrial complex that employs a vast majority of Americans? Have you actually thought all that through? The major disruption to the supply chains which will have people out on the streets looking for goods and supplies and the anarchy that would ensue as we now have 'overthrown' the military as well? I'm just curious as to how you would pull all this off and have the same freedoms we have today? I personally love it here - I have a great job, live in a wonderful city with great friends, travel all over the USA and the world on vacation and can choose to do what I want with my time - i.e., I have freedom. Weird isn't it - according to you we are all stuck in the muck. OH yes, I worked my a** for it - no where else in the world does opportunity exist like it does here - why do you think we have so many folks risking life and limb to come here anyway they can?
people come here because our system well GIVE them what most born americans fight for.training, schooling,a place to live,FOOD.we do this so the rest of the world well think we are just b itching.all the while throwing people out of their homes and giving away trillions of tax dollars paid by the very people they are makeing homeless.oh gee,but if someone loses their job after 30 years and needs a few months of unemployment(insurance)they are bums all of a sudden.biz are you one of them chair warmers?
lof,but the trillions to banks and mismanaged companys is ok.we can give the ceo of chase millions, but helping someone who has worked for 35 years is wrong?i'm so glad i'm near the end of my life, and enjoyed the years of we the people.
This should happen in Illinois. Their toll roads steal an obscene amount every year from ....well, everybody. Buncha thieves! And what do you get for it? Why, the chance to drive in their anti-everything state. And I don't like their horse either.
You've got that right! I flew into Chicago a couple of years ago and rented a car to drive to a business event about 20 miles from the airport. I must have gone through 10 toll booths on the way. Ditto on the horse.
Critics deride the protests as yet another example of a freeloading mentality that helped lead the country into its financial mess.
Sounds a lot like our current administration's mentality. I hope we wise up before we find ourselves in the same predicament!
I don't say this with forked tongue, but seriously, the freeloader mentality is going to bankrupt this country like it has every other country that has out of control and out of proportion entitlements and shrinking contributors. Taxpayers are getting tired of it, and radicals allboth sides will exploit this weakness to strengthen their political objectives, and again, the people suffer as a result.
There's a difference between freeloading versus paying your fair share and freeloading versus financing corruption. The fact that you can't differentiate explains why you keep paying.
The liberals give freebees to the freeloaders, who vote the liberals into office. Those who hold office you say are corrupt, so therefore, liberals are corrupt.
I keep paying because 1. I'm an honest person, and not to would be a crime. 2. to receive the services that the government is supposed to provide, security, roads, etc.
I do NOT pay taxes to support other people. I DONATE to charaties for that. I resent and am ticked off that my hard earned money is thrown away by the government to pay for votes, so bums don't have to work. And I vote! I hope every progressive liberal b-tard in DC hears me and others who have had enough! They're the corrupt, they're the problem, and they're going to be voted out!
I did Goober, you state you'd rather pay 500,000 in taxes, because you'd have tons left to spend.
Well, what about us honest people who don't make that kind of money, but pay too much in taxes, so we can barely give our families what you freeloaders get handed. Thus the clueless comment, you obviously don't know the burden entitlements have on average working Americans.
You're either rich or a freeloader. This is my opinion based on your comments. I'm guesing the latter!
As long as those who rely on others peoples money are allowed to elect the officials in charge of distributing said monies, we'll always have this problem.
When the total number on the government dole exceeds 50% bankruptcy will ensue. We're close. We need to reduce the number of households in relying on government. that definitely includes government workers.
bernie, Oh I get it alright I paid $156k in Fed taxes last yr so boy do I get it and in ways you probably can't even imagine. All I do is pay but I don't sit around and cry in my beer over it now that real ignorance.
old man wins!!!go to work, pay taxes, die.i pay about 5 grand in fed. taxes a year and never questioned where it went.till i saw a family i knew with a (lost home please help)sign.guy worked hard for a living, now this family of 4 is homeless.changed my outlook of my country, started to do a little research.wow,we sure seem to c rap on each other for a buck.i guess i'm weird,i'd like to see everybody with a home and a car.i want my tax dollar to help the less fortunate.
Do we view the writers of the constitution as 'conservative'? Yes in one way because they could not really envision how this country would turn out. They were calling for little government because we were a very small new nation. But the bottom line is they were and still are true revolutionaries. They revolted and waged war agains England and the monarchy. Yes, they envisioned a small government because the US was an extremely small country then with very few problems. That cannot be applied with success today in the US. That is not realistic. And if they were real conservatives we'd all be speaking with a British accent and waiting for Will and Kate to become our king and queen. If we are to make the US better for all there will have to be change. Without change there is no progress. And now everybody pull out your history books. READ THEM CAREFULLY. US history is full of change and that is why we have progressed over the years. And now once again it is a time of change in order to move forward.
Loftus, republicans today have little if anything in common with conservatives, let alone conservatives from back then. You're all just as spend crazy as anyone else, and GWB proved it.
The movement will get here..It's already begun with strategic defaults on mortgages,
As our citizens become more informed on the corrupt, egregious conduct by our banks, brokers, and Goldman Sachs in particular, our citizenry will seriously revolt.
The capitalist scammers will get their just dessert from us hard working patriotic Americans..The scammers will be bashed..Wall Street has destroyed America.
The day will come when the moscreants in high finance will be hung out to dry.
America will not revolt. How long has this corruption gone on unchallenged? How many egregious mistakes have been allowed to be repeated? Gone are the days of the "greatest generation." Gone are the days when people were not afraid to stand up for what's right. We have been bred to complacency and lured into indentured servitude. America will continue to bend over and take it.
The parallels to the greedy in Wisconsin are to great to pass up on. In fact most of America seems to be heading in the same general direction as Greece.
We spend way more than we take in, promise entitlements, then have those who stand to receive the entitlements vote for the individuals who will perpetuate this moral fraud,
After a while those who remain paying for the system will simply stop. Either by relocating or by no longer investing in taxable enterprises (Businesses).
What the hell, !! not only Greece should protest, but the whole world !!! We have been suckered for a very long time into subtle slavery to earn money and when one gets a loan from a bank he is automatically thrown into bondage. WHY DO WE HAVE TO PAY TO LIVE ON THE PLANET WE WERE BORN ON !!!! I mean come on people isn't it slavery having to wake up every morning, snow, rain, heat day after day and then return home all tired, eat, take a shower maybe watch some BS lies on TV and hit the sack, till next morning to the same routine. Now if this is not slavery I don't know what is. Is this how we humans are suppose to live, Ha ha !! those who are in authority say it's lawlessness, BS they say this because they want to keep their positions. Wake up people, wake up!!!
George? Where to start. Everything for free just because you were born on earth? Man that ain't gonna happen! You might consider squatting on government land. Maybe you could scrounge up some building materials from the dump and build yourself a shelter. Maybe you could dumpster dive for some veggies and get some seeds and plant yourself a garden and survive with the fruits of your labor.. But wait isn't that working. Working to survive. Maybe you could steal from a farmer. Just don't get caught. Your theory of not working only will work if someone else works and gives you stuff. That's called begging, living off someone else's labor. That being said, take the leap and become totally independent. Good luck with that. I won't see ya at the homeless shelters cause I work for a living.
Sounds like you need a rundown in the basics, I presume you missed a few days in 3rd grade Social Studies.
No, you don't have to get up each morning and work, but then you'll starve. Even thousands of years ago you had to do work each day, it was called hunting and gathering, rather than the 9-5. Then we got the bright idea for civilization where I work a 9-5 in one specialty and you work a 9-5 in your specialty and we'll swap goods. Where do you think the basic necessities of life come from? Someone has to work for it to get to your grocery store, and if you don't work, in kind, to create something worth bartering for those goods, you're a freeloader.
By the way...Slavery, is where I make you work to produce me money and I only give you the bare minimum to survive, ie bread and water. And before you start trying to compare work to slavery remember, if you refuse to go to work you get just get fired. If you refused to work for me, the slave owner, I beat you into submission, then send you to work anyway. Don't confuse the two, it's ignorant and disrespectful.
I live in a Chicago suburb and you are right about the toll roads. I woke up this morning to find a toll booth at the end of my driveway. Buy a $10 pack of smokes and $9 is tax. Same thing with a pint of liquor, 90% taxes. Like to gamble? 50% of the Casino take goes to the state with a $5 head tax to the state every time you walk through the turnstiles. No smoking law enforced in the casino's which drove most of the gamblers to Indiana. 66% increase in the state income tax. $7 Billion in unpaid bills. I don't know what will happen when all of the sinners are dead, bankrupt or simply move out.
I too live in a Chicago suburb (lived in Chicago all my life). You not only speak the truth when it comes to the tollways (294, 90, etc) but, what about the MILLIONS collected every day from the lottery.....and in every other state? Where in the hell is that money??
Sounds like what we need to do here.. These people are protesting the "fees" that governments come up with. It is the same here, we are taxed to death and then every time we turn around the government thinks of some new "fee" for us to pay so that they can keep spending.
It's not the employees fault it is the politicians fault, quit making promises you can't keep and quit expecting the people to pay a new "fee" everytime you overspend.
If the governments can learn to live within their means, there would be no problem.
Their financial system is in the situation its in because they followed and continue to follow right wing corporate oligarchic tactics that do nothing but benefit the corporations and rich.
They were so aligned with our banking industry like Iceland, England ect... that the mess these criminals created bankrupted their nation. As here in the US now they want the people to pay for corporate irresponsible short term greed tactics. Unlike Canada who has financial regulations and rule of law for the corporate sector.
Credit default swaps and derivatives were purchased by Greece among other nations. So they punish the people as we see in Wisconsin and all over the US by blaming them.
Talk about leading by example. The Senators and Congressman get a paid week off for Presidents Day. Its time to pay these guys only when they work....you know like the rest of us bums!
The Governor in Wisconsin knows its is not about the money it's about ending collective bargaining. The polls show he is losing on this issue the people are winning. This more to do with the corporate greed that has bought our government from the Supreme Courts to both parties in congress. The Koch Bros are funding the tea party and have paid the governor to do their bidding to end the middle class. This will not stand.
You are such a LIAR! Business has already destroyed the US. Business ALWAYS signs a Union contract first. Business loves unions. Ask General Motors. If you don't believe that in your polluted head, answer this oh great seditionist! If Unions are a problem, Then why o why did GM CLOSE the only non Union plant they had: Saturn! Tell me oh Wise ass!
Private sector union membership has be in decline for decades. Now almost half of the union members in America are government. With the leadership of the governors of Wisconsin and Ohio we may start to reduce those ranks as well.
Take a look at how the unaccountable, incompetent and often corrupt public unions have advocated selling our children's futures.
It's not to late to see things as they really are.
David, Not such an excellent post.. It is the government bureaucracy that is destroying businesses. The closure(s) was POTUS dictate in order to get a TAXPAYER bailout, it's also called trimming the fat.
it's funny how the lose of jobs, lower wages, reduction of benifits are tied to the dismanteling of the unions.well bu tt wiping well be a real career soon, also i hear chase and bank of america well be offering sidewalk licking jobs soon.don't worry they well be non union.
bill, right-on. I've seen the coming of the government brigade of butt wipers for years now. The lame-brained, the lazy, the clueless always want there butts wiped, how do you think that we have so many entitlements and all of the above mentioned always vote for a democrat.
lof i live in utah, the king of right to work states.i was also a supervisor here, and worked in illinois at verious union plants.workers, union or not all want the same, good pay, healthcare,a vacation.in a right to work state,if your ugly they can fire you.in a closed shop state the guy next to you well help you keep your job by being part of a brotherhood.that's it,thats all the differance.i was there in the 70s,layoffs,plant closeings,it was a hard time.jobs went to mexico, asia, all in the name of bigger profits.unions didn't cause this ,greed did.i went to some meetings,no commies.just a bunch of guys with calluses and dirty hands from working hard.
So I guess the old adage of "the worm will turn" has happened in so many countries and with so many people, sick and tired of the rich, screwing the people they think are below them!!! Hopefully the politicians here in good old America are watching because the Tea Partyer's are reminiscence of another group that made a stand against politicians and taxes and won!!!
Reminiscence being the key word. That party shares only the name but none of the stones to actually do anything. Don't hold your breath, the American masses will not revolt.
Good for the Greeks. I am happy for them. Stand up against tyranny and teach us Americans how to do so also. Right now we are attacking teachers and union workers for what the banks caused. We want to blame average hard working people for the mistakes of a few that caused trillions. Banks, Wall Street and bad government is to blame not average hard working people.
These riots will only lead the population into a downward spiral. it's overspending that got them, and us, into the mess they are in. Before things can get better they, and us, will have to cut spending. The need to get peopld off the government dole, and so do we.
Over spending by government officials on corporate interest. The citizens of this nation should not have to pay for the mistakes of government on the behalf of big business. Let the big companies that made billions in Greece pay for their own greed. Take the money back from the officials that caused this mess but don't blame the Greeks that did their allotted part.
Pull your money out of the banks. pull your money out of the stock market. and dont show up for work for a week..NOW let the govt figure out who is in charge of this country...They will listen to us then......Trust me we wont die...Whats the worst that can happen...
you may have a good idea, only about 35% of all jobs in the usa are non goverment.i'm in the 35%,i work now with lose of benifits,no paid days off,and no insurance why do the people living off my tax money get benifits i don't?
This reminds me of Seattle. They build the Narrows Bridge and say the tolls will pay for it. Then they keep increasing the toll to pay for other things, like Seattle roadways.
I agree, if only American people would take the same stance then things might actually get done instead of our common working class persons paying outrageous amounts, fines, and freedoms for the elite politicians and the wealthy to circumvent the true meaning of justice systems. It is ridiculous. A commoner here is an average working guy and gal, and as a scapegoat for their political business profitable gain they stop at nothing. Yet, the wealthy and the politicians are the acting parties for criminal activities, not the commoner that simply lives with common morals, and drives of human nature with the less common mistakes of nature. At least the people are doing something, rather than nothing, like here. Ignorance is bliss, as long as you have money, but American politics and government are quickly usurping any individual freedoms that the world deems as an aspiration, I assure you. The power is an illusion, and the freedoms also.
why cant we have ordinary smart people, like our constitutional fore fathers run this country...we dont need rich people doing it or lawyers who can manipulate the constitution or the laws. we need just ordinary average smart people..Like Ben Franklin..
Constitution , I like it. I find it amazing that these elected folks who have some of the finest education that our top schools have to offer lack commonsense.
Rude Dog: You can string all the letters you want after your name and it doesn't mean you have any common sense, unfortunately. If it did, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.
the constitution was written by wealthy men, aristocrats that had no intention of giving freedom to slaves(which they all had),the indians,or anyone else not like them,so in that respect nothing has changed in america, its always been a struggle of the rich vrs the poor.Only this time around the poor are well armed. You figure the rest out.
Was this article about Greece or Wisconsin? Unclear.
well put.
All you need to know.
geese and wiskey would have been a better read....honk.honk...
It's Greece, because it has a Metro.
Communist Party-backed labor unions
Greedy self righteous morons helping to bankrupt their own country
All they need is some Democrats to run away and hide.
Sounds like the future of the good ol USA if the liberals have their way.
Actually it's the future of America if the whiny liberals don't get their way.
no lynseypug, you are mistaken.
You mean not paying their taxes like Todd Stroger, Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle, Nancy Killefer, Charles Rangel, Kathleen Sebelius, and Hilda Solis?
You are probably right though. Let a republican try it and see what happens.
Why is everything associated with free loading left wing or liberal?
Skiddy, because when people want a nanny state, them seem to forget who pays for the "free stuff" the nanny state gives out.

How is this all that much different than the "I won't work" mentality of able-bodied Americans who stay on entitlement programs their entire lives?
Greece is obviously a country of immature people who are also irresponsible. They've been taken care of for far too long. It's time to grow up.
Rule of Law .........................pluezzzzzzzzzzzzz! Rule of corrupt politicians.
then the gov't should just stop paying social services and stop paving roads, and let it all catch up. then, down the line, when the citizens complain that there are no police, roads, welfare, the accountancy in gov't can say, we ran out of money b/c you didnt pay in, and your friend the construction worker wanted more than we had, so the job wasnt done.
how is it that the left leaning world as a whole doesnt comprehend the simple laws of accounting and finance? you cannot spend what you dont take it.
I think you are missing the point. It's not that they don't want to pay, it's that they don't want to give their money to a corrupt system that will squander their money.
Loftus. You are part of the problem.
good call VictoriaJane and Loftus - seems people don't understand that.
I can see similar events happening here in the U.S. if inflation keeps on rising and wages are stagnet. Just a thought.
(c) 2011
This should be happening in the U.S. We have a dictator too. Our dictator is the large corporations in banking, insurance, health care, agriculture, energy and the military industrial complex. They are killing off the middle class and until they are overthrown we won't be free.
God bless America.
Barry,
Why don't you go live in a trailer down by the river. Then maybe you won't have to put up with "large corporations in banking, insurance, health care, agriculture, energy and the military industrial complex".
One more thing, Barry.....The large corporations were overthrown in most communist countries. How "FREE" were they and, where were their middle class?
we pointed the finger at the russians for decades so we could spend trillions of $ on an imaginary enemy.with never a shot fired.we fought the chinese in korea, and nam, with thousands of american deaths.all this time kissing their rears and now we have given them most our jobs!!bernie, been living under a rock?
so how do you propose to 'overthrow' the corporations and the military industrial complex that employs a vast majority of Americans? Have you actually thought all that through? The major disruption to the supply chains which will have people out on the streets looking for goods and supplies and the anarchy that would ensue as we now have 'overthrown' the military as well? I'm just curious as to how you would pull all this off and have the same freedoms we have today? I personally love it here - I have a great job, live in a wonderful city with great friends, travel all over the USA and the world on vacation and can choose to do what I want with my time - i.e., I have freedom. Weird isn't it - according to you we are all stuck in the muck. OH yes, I worked my a** for it - no where else in the world does opportunity exist like it does here - why do you think we have so many folks risking life and limb to come here anyway they can?
people come here because our system well GIVE them what most born americans fight for.training, schooling,a place to live,FOOD.we do this so the rest of the world well think we are just b itching.all the while throwing people out of their homes and giving away trillions of tax dollars paid by the very people they are makeing homeless.oh gee,but if someone loses their job after 30 years and needs a few months of unemployment(insurance)they are bums all of a sudden.biz are you one of them chair warmers?
it's 6 weeks there lof.
lof,but the trillions to banks and mismanaged companys is ok.we can give the ceo of chase millions, but helping someone who has worked for 35 years is wrong?i'm so glad i'm near the end of my life, and enjoyed the years of we the people.
Need proof? Look at Greece, etc.
There's a difference between freeloading versus paying your fair share and freeloading versus financing corruption. The fact that you can't differentiate explains why you keep paying.
I'm a freeloader now, and love it!
I'd rather be paying half a million per year in taxes, then I'd actually have some money to spend for something other than necessities.
For all the tax whiners, if you hate taxes that much then by all means, quit your job and stay unemployed.
Yash, you're obviously one of the who just collect rather than actually work and pay taxes. It's so clear you have no clue.
Read my post above yours Einstein, I'd rather be working.
Is this what the unions and their communist/socialist supporters will start doing here? Liberals, unions and commies make me sick!
Copper,
BINGO............
Liberalism is a mental disorder, a hoax, a lie and a waste of money..........other peoples' money.
Do you two sleep together too? Ignorance breeds ignorance but at least mental disorders can treated.
As long as those who rely on others peoples money are allowed to elect the officials in charge of distributing said monies, we'll always have this problem.
When the total number on the government dole exceeds 50% bankruptcy will ensue. We're close. We need to reduce the number of households in relying on government. that definitely includes government workers.
common,
"Old Me" doesn't seem to understand that. Talk about ignorance!
old man gets it,how much money you spend every month on them commie products from china?
bernie, Oh I get it alright I paid $156k in Fed taxes last yr so boy do I get it and in ways you probably can't even imagine. All I do is pay but I don't sit around and cry in my beer over it now that real ignorance.
Conservatives are against all change by definition. If conservatives were the majority in 1776 we'd still be flying a British flag.
A new government? Sounds a tad progressive.
old man wins!!!go to work, pay taxes, die.i pay about 5 grand in fed. taxes a year and never questioned where it went.till i saw a family i knew with a (lost home please help)sign.guy worked hard for a living, now this family of 4 is homeless.changed my outlook of my country, started to do a little research.wow,we sure seem to c rap on each other for a buck.i guess i'm weird,i'd like to see everybody with a home and a car.i want my tax dollar to help the less fortunate.
And that's why when I hear pubs whining about the other party's spending all I can do is roll my eyes.
But you hit the nail on the head. Too bad it won't get any further.
seems as though we need to do that in the good old usa
We couldn't even organize a "don't buy any gas today" day.
The day will come when the moscreants in high finance will be hung out to dry.
taciturn,
Guess you forgot about Freddie, Fannie, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank!
We need to cut spending now.
George,
Sounds like you need a rundown in the basics, I presume you missed a few days in 3rd grade Social Studies.
I don't know what will happen when all of the sinners are dead, bankrupt or simply move out.
crocodile,
I too live in a Chicago suburb (lived in Chicago all my life). You not only speak the truth when it comes to the tollways (294, 90, etc) but, what about the MILLIONS collected every day from the lottery.....and in every other state? Where in the hell is that money??
Those who live in Chicago deserve it and now you've exported your politics to the rest of the US.
We need to do away with all retirements for senators and congressmen. This should not be a lucrative career it should be public service.
Fiscal responsibility needs to be the new standard by which everyone and everything is judged.
Well do something about it do not reelect you senator & congressperson irregarless of their party as they are all in on it.
If you dont believe it . Where is the change of benefits to the senate & congress that the supposedly Tea Party were going to implement ????
Nothing !! Only cutting benefits for anyone other than them.
Throw the BUMS OUT !!!!
Will,
Got to agree. They've all been complicit in the fiscal irresponsibility and fraud.
Glad you agree.... Now spread the word...
join me ... i am a card holding member of the Anti-Incumbent Party (AIP) ... i vote against anyone who's served more than 2 terms, period
Jeff,
Walk back toward the light. Most in Wisconsin support the Governor actions.
This country and almost every state has over spent. Get used to idea that cuts are coming. Embrace them.
Join the rest of us in framing a new world were we no longer spend our children's future to satisfy our own greed.
Jeff elegant but stupid You aren't framing anything, and you could give a sh.. about your"children's future.
Of course it's elegant he is just rehashing Daily Kos talking points.
General Lawlessness of the public!!!!???? WTF How about the general lawlessness of the Government?
David, Excellent...
We should do the same here in the U.S.! Stop paying ALL taxes. Let the UNION leaders and the UNION members live off of their members' dues.
The UNION-eestas will destroy the U.S.
David,
Private sector union membership has be in decline for decades.
Look out when the masses get mad!
You will get fired and replaced after 3 days?
This reminds me of Seattle. They build the Narrows Bridge and say the tolls will pay for it. Then they keep increasing the toll to pay for other things, like Seattle roadways.
So irritating.
Does anyone see that the whole world is in total chaos? Matthew 24
Be still, and know that I am.
