I have never had a "Recall" on any Rolls. I can't believe this.
Even my old 1969 Landrover, which we use to get about the ranch, has a Rolls engine, never a problem. However, there was always a problem with the poor Lucas Electrical. I replaced that decades ago.
MrCool - I had Lucas electrics in an old Triumph motorcycle. Of course they never worked. When I installed Lucas lighting in the dark room of my photo finishing studio everything worked perfectly.
"This is a darkroom. If you open the door the light will escape. For a free refill call Lucas Electrics". rofl
Thanks, you saved me the trouble of repeating exactly what you have just said JSinSD.
I worked for Pressed Steel and Fisher who pressed out the shells for the Rolls Royces ( at that time, nobody was to know about that, Cowley, Oxford UK). Everyone thought every thing was done at Rolls Royce.
My two Phantoms will be going into the shop over the next few days and I'm none too pleased. Each cost me over $300k and apparently I'm no better than the common BMW 7 owner low-life.
They only share small portions of the drive train. And the 7 series can easily run over 100k - so to say that your 300k machine uses the braking lines of a 100k car shows only the level of competency in the owner about which machine he spends 300k on.
And I think they 7 series owner may have been smarter - even if a 'low-life' as you put it. At least they didn't get gacked 200k ;)
I've always wondered what is so wonderful, what special features can a car have that makes it costs about as much as a house? My car, a middle range Ford, has everything, cd player, tape, am/fm stereo/, air conditioning, automatic windows, electronically adjusting seats, automatic windows,,,And it doesn't cost like a Rolls.
It is all in what you get from your car. If it is truly transportation - then fine. But there are varying levels of workmanship, quality, and luxury - and each level comes with it's own starting price.
ALL cars have an engine. With BMW it's that blue and white circle that represents the view through the propeller of their ME-109 as they were shooting down B-17 and B-24's during WW II, just a little bit of "In your Face".
Ummm no - it is known affectionately as 'the propeller' design (an inside BMW term) that is exactly what A Vet had said. The colors however, are the colors of Bavaria.
That being said - it wasn't a wartime overture as much as a pride in design marking. Many out of work aircraft engineers began working on autos after the war, and this was the calling card of Bavarian Aircraft engineers who had made a car. Simple as that.
@ derek- When I picked up my BMW in Munich, I was informed by the gentleman that gave me the tour of my new car that the propeller design was a myth. I gotta believe him over you and veteran, after all, hes a representative of BMW, are you? Where do you get your info, Wikipedia? LOL.
Ha! Ha! Ha! , NATURALLY the manufacturer would tell you it's a myth. knock knock anybody home McFly? My family is from Bremen, we have relatives who worked for BMW, take my word for it, it's an IN YOUR FACE gesture. There, how's THAT? You go ahead and believe some ex-Nazi over me I don't really give a farfignugen.
Okay Dumkoph, anyway, I didn't SAY you had to take my anything, just voicing my opinion on this vine. You DID do one smart thing though, you bought your car in Germany where is is half or less as much expensive, unless the "Honest" car salesman (Ha! Ha! now THAT'S an oxymoron) you bought it from KNEW you were an American. You just go on driving your Ultimate Driving Machine, and I sure hope the brakes work on it. Have a Nice day.
U got that right...I can not understand why anyone would spend that amount of money on a car...Some thinks they look rich and good in it...They better take a look in the mirror...
Actually the Roundel is based on the Bavarian flag not the commonly thought white propeller on a blue sky theme. That has always been the basis for many years.
Bobble, get your Urban Legend correct my friend, it isn't white propeller on blue sky, it's blue sky and white clouds as seen through the propeller blades.Okay? OKAY!
What a stupid comment. It doesnt even make sense. I'll bet you have idiotic comments for every subject and you spend your day just dazzling anyone you can get to listen to you with them.
Because they have created the best handling vehicles on earth. Because they can pay for 100 percent of maintenance (including brake pads/rotors, and windshield wipers) for 4 years at no cost (rolled in or otherwise) simply because the machines are so well engineered.
Saying that BMW is not superior to GM/Ford/Toyota is a statement of ignorance.
No car there was even close to 50 grand - they were ALL well over that price. And having a faulty powered brake system does not constitute a piece of @!$%#. Not a single accident has occurred and they fix them quickly and for free (and provide you with a VERY nice loaner in the process).
What is so @!$%#ty about a responsible car company being proactive in keeping it's customers safe?
I think TheGreatDebator is an idiot. Obviously, he/she has never driven one nor aware of what they really cost.
Every car company has issues at some point in history. Looks at Mercedes in the last decade. They produced so many lemons it was ridiculous. But how they and BMW deal with it has been much better than any other car company.
To all the BMW - haters out there: you're just jealous. A BMW is one of the best cars our on the road. Don't believe me? We'll set up a race going 90 mph around a sharp turn on the freeway - while your Lexus/Ford/Honda flips, my BMW will hug the road and leave you in the dust.
BlondieAR - Okay, as long as we're naming our races, Winternationals 1/4 mile standing start, your BMW against a 5,000 HP Blown Dodge, the exhaust from the rail will bubble your paint.
It's official - everybody is doing it - slacking off on their quality conrol. Rolls-Royce, the premier symbol in the auto industry is now no diffirent in their manufacturing practices then the rest.....what a shame to have their brand tarnished in this manner....
Ya KNOW Big Daddy I am actually enjoying talking with you today. I really enjoy somebody with grit mixed with some humor who posts interesting things on these vines. I just may ask you to be friends, check your profile. :)
Im having fun too. First time on these vines, I might have to make it a habit, but I have not gotten much work done today. Fridays can be kinda lazy. I'll check the profile. This isnt a "love connection", I hope. ;)
I have owned them all..Ford, Dodge, new BMW, Honda, Toyota and I find you can have problems with any of them..no car maker is more superior than the other..The problem is cheaply made parts. My new BMW was nothing but trouble from the start, my Toyota was a lemon too, My Dodge was good though and out of all Fords I have owned..the one I have now is better, but still it is a 2008 with 24k and I still had the radiator replace a week ago. My Honda however is still in top form and not a days trouble, it is a 2002. So get any car you like, but they can all still have issues and do.
GOOD ! Finally something may wipe that smug " look at my cool car" smirk off all people who drive BMW's By the way,,, You are definitely not as cool looking as you think you are .
Beemers are BMW motorcycles, Bimmers are the cars. Pronounced the same, as far as I've heard. Its our lingo, you wouldn't, make that, couldn't possibly understand.
That's the beemer, bimmer, bummer Halolouia twist. What can't I understand? The fact that YOU, the grammar policeman, don't know the difference between a long and short vowel? The short e in beemer is pronounced eh, so that would phonetically be b-eh-mer, the bimmer (short i) IS correctly pronounced b-ee-mer. So there's your English Composition - 101 for the day. :)
Now you've really got me laughing, Vets. I think its the German pronunciation...? Flashback to 10th grade German class... Yes, Im pretty sure the i has an 'eee' pronunciation. So, there it is. Case closed.
@A Veteran, twice now you have tried to flex your internet muscle and twice been shot down and respond with basic bullying, Bemmer = Motorcyle; Bimmer = Car and yes it from the German pronunciation so your English 101 lesson is meaningless. Quit being such a hater!
Wow! Bobble - Don't get your panties in such a bunch. I don't HATE anybody. Just having a little dialogue with other vinesters here. If you think I'm a hater I apologize to you and any other people who think that's what I'm doing here. I had a Muscle car that I would put up against ANYTHING mentioned on this vine. but, I am now changed and an environmental geek who drives a Highlander Hybrid and picks up trash at the beach on saturdays where I live in carlsbad, CA. Ask my Grandkids, they help me. Have a nice day, it's Friday.
Maybe KOOSHTON was just making a funny. I don't think many people who own 2 Rollsroyces would be sitting around posting on these vines with us commoners. They would be watching their shares on the stock market. Kosh's mom just left the computer on when she went to work this morning.
What did you expect,,got hillbillys building em dem in them there right to work states, thay are to busy trying to figure out where to take their sisters out on a date! Gee, let me do it i ain't nena workid on a fourin transmishyin befour?
Sorry, but BMW does not build the 5, 6, or 7 series in South Carolina. A state that you have so undeservedly smeared with your hillbilly reference. I'll put my 2006 BMW X3 against ANY American built car...Any!
Why? Have you thought about seeking the help of a qualified medical professional? As a friend who is concerned about your lack of self esteem, I'm asking you, "Please, get help."
Okay BimmerMan - Let's get you entered in the Winternationals and put you up against a 5,000 HP fully blown Dodge dragster, you'll blink your eyes and the dragster will be crossing the quarter mile mark, You GAME????? Arrogance is nauseating.
Some of you are plain idiots! I am so tired of people blaming the Obama administration for any and everything. What in Gods name does a recall of a braking system have to do with Obama? Why don't you blame the engineers who designed the braking systems idiot. This is for Jim C.
I'm surprised. Most 1999-2005 3-Series BMW's suffered from the "No Reverse" transmission problem (see www.noreverse.org) in their ZF automatic transmissions and BMW stood behind their car 0.0%
In fact, in most cases, the Nazis won't even repair the transmission, they will only install a new one at about $5,000.
Buy American, buy Japanese, buy Korean, just stay away from German cars.
It's the contagious "Can't Make A Car Right" virus!! BMW caught it!
It's really all that Marxist Obama's fault, because he appropriated all the car companies and fouled-up everything.
Glenn Limbaugh.
I have never had a "Recall" on any Rolls. I can't believe this.
Even my old 1969 Landrover, which we use to get about the ranch, has a Rolls engine, never a problem. However, there was always a problem with the poor Lucas Electrical. I replaced that decades ago.
I think its Bush Fault!!! Blame it on him!!! By the way BMW has two of his initials anyway GWB
MrCool - I had Lucas electrics in an old Triumph motorcycle. Of course they never worked. When I installed Lucas lighting in the dark room of my photo finishing studio everything worked perfectly.
"This is a darkroom. If you open the door the light will escape. For a free refill call Lucas Electrics". rofl
I blame the Clintons...
BWM said there have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
Who's BWM?
Things are getting pretty bad when you can not even count on quality workmanship and design for a Rolls Royce!
All I can say is, well, what next??
"What next??" I'll tell you whats next, the world will soon be ruled by Damn Dirty Apes!
They DID it, they finally DID it, they Blew it up.
Damn! First the Bentley and now the Rolls. I hate driving that Ferrari, it's just too small.
e-p-i-c. rotflmao
TOYODA, take note!
Yeah! We KNOW, that's the correct spelling of the founder of Toyota.
My two Phantoms will be going into the shop over the next few days and I'm none too pleased. Each cost me over $300k and apparently I'm no better than the common BMW 7 owner low-life.

ahem!!! ... derek ... kooshton was being sarcastic.
derek.hinch Hook-Line-Sinker-And All Four Wheels.....
I've NEVER heard a BMW 7 series owner called a low life before, I guess this is a lesson in relativity, No?
BMW = Big Money Wasted
BMW = Brings Me Women
Shazam!! Well played, BimmerMan.
you need a car for to get women?
I've always wondered what is so wonderful, what special features can a car have that makes it costs about as much as a house? My car, a middle range Ford, has everything, cd player, tape, am/fm stereo/, air conditioning, automatic windows, electronically adjusting seats, automatic windows,,,And it doesn't cost like a Rolls.
And you'll never know. Ignorance is bliss, huh?
It is all in what you get from your car. If it is truly transportation - then fine. But there are varying levels of workmanship, quality, and luxury - and each level comes with it's own starting price.

@ A Veteran- Wrong again my friend. The roundel is from the flag of Bavaria, where BMWs are made.
Big Daddy-O
Ummm no - it is known affectionately as 'the propeller' design (an inside BMW term) that is exactly what A Vet had said. The colors however, are the colors of Bavaria.
That being said - it wasn't a wartime overture as much as a pride in design marking. Many out of work aircraft engineers began working on autos after the war, and this was the calling card of Bavarian Aircraft engineers who had made a car. Simple as that.

You go ahead and believe some ex-Nazi over me I don't really give a farfignugen.
Your lineage does not mean that you are correct, just trivial. "Take YOUR word"? I think not.
Okay Dumkoph, anyway, I didn't SAY you had to take my anything, just voicing my opinion on this vine. You DID do one smart thing though, you bought your car in Germany where is is half or less as much expensive, unless the "Honest" car salesman (Ha! U got that right...I can not understand why anyone would spend that amount of money on a car...Some thinks they look rich and good in it...They better take a look in the mirror...
@ Deb- And you'll never know or understand and that's okay. Much like your failure of the English language. However, your Ebonics is great!
OKAY!
Vets, didnt I already school you on that? Or are we agreeing to disagree?
Okay Big Daddy, YOU win.
Why did anyone think BMW walked on water while GM, Ford and Toyota could barely swim?
What a stupid comment. It doesnt even make sense. I'll bet you have idiotic comments for every subject and you spend your day just dazzling anyone you can get to listen to you with them.
Because BMW is the most profitable car company?
Because they have created the best handling vehicles on earth. Because they can pay for 100 percent of maintenance (including brake pads/rotors, and windshield wipers) for 4 years at no cost (rolled in or otherwise) simply because the machines are so well engineered.
Saying that BMW is not superior to GM/Ford/Toyota is a statement of ignorance.
lol, way to pay 50,000$ for a POS, should have just got a cheap one
No car there was even close to 50 grand - they were ALL well over that price. And having a faulty powered brake system does not constitute a piece of @!$%#. Not a single accident has occurred and they fix them quickly and for free (and provide you with a VERY nice loaner in the process).
What is so @!$%#ty about a responsible car company being proactive in keeping it's customers safe?
Lexis fixed it free and provided a very nice loaner too, and it STILL killed 4 people down here in San Diego.

Easy race....5000 hp...against a BMW...you will never get off the line quick enough to put that HP to good use....lol.
327 M.P.H. in a 1/4 Mile????????
I hope this sort of problem doesn't spread to the Bentley, What with the flying "B" problem that could be really serious.
It's official - everybody is doing it - slacking off on their quality conrol. Rolls-Royce, the premier symbol in the auto industry is now no diffirent in their manufacturing practices then the rest.....what a shame to have their brand tarnished in this manner....
James, hitch-up the carriage!
The "Ultimate" Driving Machine? Too bad they didn't have engine problems when they made ME-109's.
P-51 Mustang with Rolls Royce Merlin engine... ME's always hit the ground engine first...
Messerschmitt made the ME-109, not BMW. BMW made the engine, which went into a number of planes, just like the Rolls Royce Merlin did.
Thanks Jonathan, that's what I MEANT.
Yes Veteran is NEVER wrong. If you think he may be, then you are just misunderstanding him, and therefore YOU are the bonehead. Right Cletus?
I got your back brother. ;)
This isnt a "love connection", I hope. ;)
Naw, just someone else who likes cars and good conversation. Peace.
Rapper 50 CENTS will be disturbed by this. Its going to disturb the murderous bastard's schedule.
Ray - I believe it's 50 CENT.
german engineering has always been sh1t! ditto for the asians!
What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?
The porcupine carries its pricks on the outside.
LOL! Thats a good one. Reminds me a a joke too. "What is the difference between a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a Hoover Vacuum cleaner?"
"Placement of the Dirt Bag"
Good one.
I have owned them all..Ford, Dodge, new BMW, Honda, Toyota and I find you can have problems with any of them..no car maker is more superior than the other..The problem is cheaply made parts. So much for the theory that more money spent on your car equals quality and safety.
GOOD ! Finally something may wipe that smug " look at my cool car" smirk off all people who drive BMW's By the way,,, You are definitely not as cool looking as you think you are .
This boy has got a serious inferiority complex. Sad really.
Yes, very sad.
What is a Bimmer man, you drive one and don't even know they're called BEAMERS????? I've heard of the Glimmer Man, is bimmer kind of the same as THAT?
Beemers are BMW motorcycles, Bimmers are the cars. Pronounced the same, as far as I've heard. Its our lingo, you wouldn't, make that, couldn't possibly understand.

"Book 'um, Danno."
Heck! That's what happens when you try to mix German with English as a second language.
@A Veteran, twice now you have tried to flex your internet muscle and twice been shot down and respond with basic bullying, Bemmer = Motorcyle; Bimmer = Car and yes it from the German pronunciation so your English 101 lesson is meaningless. Quit being such a hater!

KOOSHTON... you smug pompous bragging blow hard !

???????.... Cant understand a word. Our education system appears to have failed SlickMick.
DUH, little susie q............. It's a joke son! Common sense must have failed you!
german cars= crap
asian cars= more crap
Sorry, but BMW does not build the 5, 6, or 7 series in South Carolina. A state that you have so undeservedly smeared with your hillbilly reference. I'll put my 2006 BMW X3 against ANY American built car...Any!
@ SlickMick- And I'll put my 335 and my 750 against any car also. Well, after I get those pesky brakes fixed. HA!
oooooooooo, ima soo ascared of you two dimwits!

did ya here the one about the driver of a BMW, and the porcupine? BMW's are still scared of Datsun.
Some of you are plain idiots! I am so tired of people blaming the Obama administration for any and everything. What in Gods name does a recall of a braking system have to do with Obama? Why don't you blame the engineers who designed the braking systems idiot. This is for Jim C.
