whoever wrote this report used old data because hawaii has the highest average cost for gasoline which is $3.34 per gallon according to the AAA fuel gauge. so suck on that!
Consumers could respond by buying a fuel efficient car. The Cash for Clunkers program showed that even with a large financial incentive, Americans bought more and more trucks with a low fuel efficiency. Sure. Plumbers and traveling salesmen need a very heavy duty truck all of the time.
America made a small reduction in the number of miles driven per year during the period of peak gas prices and continue to make almost no reductions.
Oil companies can and should charge anything for their product like any other business. The only unfair practice is to raise and lower prices so quickly that consumers are unable to respond.
It's always going to be high in Hawaii. even when I was there in the eighties.what I don't get is why Mexico its half the cost as in the states..taxes is the problem.Cash for Clunckers has made a difference across the globe ..a lot of people don't realize that we stole the idea from other countries..they should do it again..when I lived in Hawaii noticed most drove a economic car..mostly VW's but that was back in the eighties

The oil company cartels have many things in common and one of them is picking the back pocket of the people of this country.

those trucks get twice the mileage as the older models
I wonder if the two refineries at Kapolei make any difference...
