Madoff's fall: From sex parties to prison pizza

Fallen financier Bernard Madoff has plunged from his Manhattan penthouse to the lower bunk of a cell he shares with a drug offender at a federal prison, where he eats pizza cooked by a child molester and hangs around with a mob boss and a convicted spy, according to legal papers filed Tuesday.

Madoff's ENTIRE family should be incarcerated until they cough up information that leads to the whereabouts of all the money that's unaccounted for.

This guy is does not share a bunk with a drug runner, shower with a convicted rapist and eats pizza served by a child molester.

The guy is in the same type of prison that Martha Steward was in - country club for the rich & famous.

Long Hair your point is taken. I don't think we really understand privilege - at that social strata where the presence of money and power meet there is a type of brotherhood of commonalities. In many cases they have all gone to prestigious colleges belonged to fraternities or social clubs where even if they don't know each other personally they know who each other is and even if they haven't been to prestigious colleges, the ability to amass fortune is a pass card in to a kind of inner room. There is - or appears to be - an unwritten code "don't get caught" this causes embarrassment but behind the scenes pressure can be brought to bear -"look this guy isn't just some Joe off the street. - "Joe off the street" that's you and me - ergo a better class of criminal. Social activist have been screaming about this for years and it hasn't changed and it's unlikely to change soon - what makes this dangerous - this kind of inner sanctum - is we pay for it ... physically, mentally an spiritually.

(Not as tight as I would like it - but hopefully you get the gist)

Money, cocaine and sex, has always been the predominate culture on Wall St., anything else is merely for appearances. Madoff's office typifies the office environment at 90% of Wall St. offices, the other 10% are either women employees, or old men who can't get it up anymore. If people only knew what really goes on and the things they say about the "sheep" who they fleece out of their hard earned cash, they would all be dead tomorrow.

If these "salacious" office parties were "laced with cocaine", I'm not buying that he was doing any of the coke.

People that are in their 50s that do coke end up dead. Old people die from coke. Madoff is now 71.

My point being, there's a little creativity presented in this "report".

Shame on all of them I agree with poster #1. There is no reason for people who have benefitted by cheating others to be free. As for madoff, he deserves to be in a regular high security prison in GENERAL POPULATION. Carmine Persico, the murdering garbage he is deserves to go with him. Funny how seriously we issue sentences and some want even tougher stuff than 150 years when it involves money. The lesson is this, if confroned with murdering someone or stealing someone's money, obviously murdering someone carries a lighter sentence. One crime is 150 years, murder can be 15 years to life or charges can be lowered so you are out in 5 years.

I have no sympathy for Madoff. My sympathy is for our broken down justice system that places a message that money has more value.

I agree he should be punished to the full extent of the law...but...I just cannot help but to feel that many many of our politicians are just as bad , just not so much money at stake. $90,000 found in a freezer, millions not reported to tax people and he is in charge of the tax group. I just want to throw them all into the prision and throw the keps away. But when our politicians get caught their political party protects them(fancy Nancy). she yells for blood unless it is one of her own party, then she turns her head like she doesn't know anything about it.

Not only should they have castrated Madoff, one does not pull off a scam as large as Madoff's by oneself. Greed got Madoff and his investors where they are. The investors had to know that this was easy money and therefore suspicious. Madoff simply played on an age old emotion as any good con man does. I don't care about any of them. The government is running the biggest Ponzi Schemes ever..........Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. These are the things we should be worrying about and discussing and acting on.

Madoff should be in jail. But what about the rest of them. This is so offensive to Jews. It is not even transparent. They find one jew and make an nexample out of him. They even mention a jew in the article.

Where in the article does it mention madoff's religion or even the word "jew"??

Are you suggesting we can't imprison anyone Jewish for any wrongdoing or else it's anti-semitic? Are you crying over the fact that the article mentioned a "mob boss" with an Italian last name? Would you like it if Italians (or Catholics) said we can't imprison or write articles about the wrongdoings of Italians/Catholics?

This is exactly what he deserves. He put a lot of other innocent, trusting people out of THEIR homes and THEIR dreams, so I'm glad he's getting a taste of the despair they're feeling. What a jerk. I can't believe he used other people's hard earned money to buy all that crap.

There is an old saying,'You can't cheat an honest man'! The reasoning for this saying is, an honest person will not take advantage of a situation where they would benefit unduly. Those innocent trusting people had just as much larceny in their heart as Madoff did, they knew what he was offering them more than was reasonable. His investors do not have my sympathy, if they are looking for sympathy I suggest they look somewhere between @!$%# and syphilis in the dictionary. They should be in prison for larceny as well.

Madoff will spend the rest of his life in prison, which is good. Unfortuntely, the government should revoke the Madoff family passports. Madoff probably has money hid in foreign banks. It would not bother me to skip out of the USA and spend the rest of my life living in a European country that is not to keen on US extradition request. Especially since I would be living in the lap of wealth.

I have to believe he was not the only one running these scams. I would be willing to bet there are quite a few well known people who have spent a bunch of time and money covering up their own indiscretions since the Madoff story broke. The Madoff story is a microcosm of what is bringing this country down financially. Greed and lack of morals/ethics to put it simply.

Hey everyone, these letters are a tad troublesome, wouldn't you agree? Bernie's misdeeds are nowhere near as damaging as the previous adminstrations, nor as widespread. This type of conduct is what man has evolved to. I would say that unfortunately, a great percentage of man, left unchecked like ol Bernie, would do the exact same thing, including some of you.

the thinker: I believe there is a huge difference. This President is doing his best to help rectify the mess he inherited. Give him time, at least he goes to work daily. The previous guy vacationed 88 out of the first 150 days in office. I can't recall a President inheriting a worse mess, Mr. previous cared only about "his base", damn the results the greed, wars, ruination of the economy, the rich got richer. It's an absolute fact that the richest of our country have had record profits as the rest have suffered. The whole damn bunch should be with Bernie.

Hey LANDLOCKED....What everyone is forgetting is that Pres. ODUMO swore he knew just how to fix the problems when he was running for the Whitehouse. ODUMO is just compounding the money problems. He promised jobs by now and that has gone from bad to worse. I have a feeling that when he gets the runs in ten years, he will blame it on the previous administration. I am getting real tired of this excuse. he is not man enough to admit what he has done is not working. I made a mistake and believed him when he was running for the WH.
