It's funny how they did not mention that ~1 year ago USA Today raised their price from 75 cents to $1.
I'm sure that a 33% price increase had something to do with the decrease in the number of people who purchase the newspaper.
At the time I thought, great, newspaper readership is dropping, we are heading into a recession or depression, now would be a great time to increase your price [heavy sarcasm].
If I want to see what's in USA Today, I can select it on my iPhone instead of spending $1 a day.
What a crock of crap. Fire that newspaper executive for trying to sell that excuse for why circulation is down.
I just returned from holiday in Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges, Gent and Paris and I could not find a USA Today newspaper for the life of me. Not one newsagent carried it--and I tried several in each city. The International Herald Tribune was available everywhere, but USA Today wasn't even on the radar.
Tell that pinhead executive the drop in circulation overseas is due to nobody carrying your newspaper.
When I travel I usually stay in Hilton hotels and they normally provide a USA Today paper at the door each day. The last three trips had a conspicuously "missing" paper. Could the hotel be cutting back because of the price increase or the recession?
Maybe just maybe it has to do with their reporting standards. I used to subscribe to USA today until they felt the need to let all of the world know that Arthur Ashe was dying of AIDS after he asked them not to report it until he told his wife and children. I dropped them that day and never went back. I feel they are getting their just desert. What goes around..comes around.
Sorry, But newsprint is all but dead.

USA Today is for people who would People magazine everyday. There is nothing of substance in it.

I'm surprised they haven't asked for a subsidy like the Saudi's
